The Albanian Mafia (アルバニア・マフィア Arubania Mafia) refers to a specific Albanian organized crime syndicate based in Tirana, Albania. The Albanians have expanded their presence to Roanapur by allying with Cosa Nostra.
Structure & business[]
It is not known who the leader of the Albanian Mafia's Thai branch is, but two known members in Roanapur are Mustafa and Çubronik. Additionally, the Albanian gangsters follow the Kanun code, which pertains to how members conduct business and loyalty among themselves and to other criminal groups. The Albanian Mafia is known to have territory in the Golden Crescent region in Asia,[1] indicating drug trafficking as one of their illicit businesses.
History[]
The first members of the Albanian Mafia were originally part of the Kosovo Liberation Army, and later on members of the Sigurimi joined the group, making the Albanians a powerful emerging force in Eastern Europe.[2]
The Wired Red Wild Card[]
During the 1970s, the People's Liberation Army of China had financed the Sigurimi, the state security apparatus of the People's Socialist Republic of Albania, and exchanged intelligence with them on covert actions. In addition, this financing was done via sending them gold ingots known as Ali Dragua using a PLA shell company called Annenheim Distributions. Immediately during the last days of the collapse of Albania's communist government, former Sigurimi members took off with the gold during the chaotic restructuring of the government, soon joining the Albanian cartel in Tirana. As discovered by Rock and Feng Yifei, the PLA and a former Sigurimi official made English-language email correspondences in which the former accused the latter of mismanaging the Ali Dragua and demanded the return of the liquid assets (gold bullion).[3]
In the next five years, the Albanians built themselves and continued to hold onto the Ali Dragua. When the Albanians began trying to establish themselves in Roanapur, they either had to ally with Hotel Moscow or with Cosa Nostra, and they chose the latter, promising to give whichever group access to the Golden Crescent region in return for laundering the Albanians' money. As a goodwill gesture, Ronnie the Jaws offered to launder the gold ingots for the Albanians by giving the gold to Zamid Dhiyab, but six months into their dealings, Dhiyab died in what was deemed an accident, leaving Dhiyab's laundering account inaccessible to anyone due to his secretiveness.[4] The Sicilians had a problem recovering the account, causing two Albanians, Mustafa and Çubronik, to visit Ronnie's office to discuss the missing gold with Luciano. After the meeting concluded, Çubronik informed the Sicilians that unless they recovered the money, the Albanian leaders would ally with Hotel Moscow instead.
As they exited the meeting room at Visconti Food Service, Mustafa was surprised to see Revy, a Chinese-American, and warned Çubronik that she was Chinese. Angry about her presence, Çubronik pulled out his gun and aimed it at Revy, who in turn pulled out her Sword Cutlass pistol, resulting in a standoff. Çubronik angrily asked why she was at the office since she was Chinese, but Luciano frantically urged him to put his gun away since Revy was merely of a Chinese-American background and not a member of Chinese organized crime. Annoyed by their interruption, Ronnie finished his phone call and threatened to torture and kill both gunslingers if they refused to simmer down. Accordingly, Çubronik sheathed his gun and left with Mustafa.[1] Eventually, Rock and Feng managed to recover the account, giving the "washing machine" as well as an internal PLA document to Ronnie in exchange for Feng's safety from the PLA. In turn, Ronnie managed to restore relations with the Albanian Mafia.[5]
