Bugsy Lance (バグジー・ランス Bagujī Ransu) was a street criminal who was hired by Bren the Black Death under the false pretense of killing renegade gangsters. In reality, Bugsy was hired to act as a shield for Roberta when she desired to kill the soldiers of Grey Fox.

Appearance[]

Bugsy was a young, adult man with a skinny build, short, shaggy blond hair, tan skin, and a thin chin beard. He wore a short-sleeved, purple, upturned-collar shirt over a long-sleeved black shirt and blue jeans. He carried an IMI Uzi submachine gun for a weapon.

History[]

El Baile de la muerte / Roberta's Blood Trail[]

When the Grey Fox soldiers realized that Roanapur's criminals knew of their presence, they planted Claymore mines in their hotels and prepared to escape. Meanwhile, Filano on behalf of Bren ordered Bugsy and his friends to storm the building.[1] While in the hotel as the lights were off, Bugsy assured his men and Mikey that they would be fine since Richie Leroy's information was never wrong. Although he reminded them that the targets were merely renegade gangsters, the men were in fact trained army soldiers. At the hotel room's door, several of the hired men were shot through the door by Wright and Gardner, resulting in their own smoke grenade to fall down the stairs. At that point, the soldiers then detonated the Claymore mines and escaped to the rooftops. Only slightly injured, Bugsy decided to continue ascending the stairs, telling the remaining gunmen that they could not let their friends die in vain.[2]

Afterward that night, in the anime, Bugsy, José, and their remaining friends ran into the streets and came across FARC soldiers, starting a firefight with them. During the firefight, Revy, Shenhua and Sawyer the Cleaner interrupted them and began killing both sides. Revy pushed a dumpster to serve as a shield while Shenhua sliced up the thugs, including Bugsy, whose chest was cut in two by the Taiwanese assassin.[3] In the manga after the building explosion, Bugsy's men continued the pursuit while he returned to Bren to talk with him and straighten out their deal.[4] Because Bugsy was meant to die, Filano purposefully tripped Bugsy when he arrived on the rooftop, making him fall off onto the ground, where he died upon impact. Accordingly, Bren and Filano made Bugsy's death look accidental so as to not arouse suspicion from outside parties, and they left his body there while Bren killed another hired gun as he left.[5]
