History[]
El Baile de la muerte / Roberta's Blood Trail[]
After Grey Fox's mission of political interference in Venezuela, the U.S. troops went to Southeast Asia for their next mission to capture Shue Yan in the Golden Triangle border region. In Thailand in the city of Roanapur, Burroughs was assigned with Team Alpha and stayed in Caxton's motel. After going through town for reconnaissance, Burroughs came back to Shane Caxton with Horner and reported the strange behavior that roads in their vicinity were closed off for construction despite no visible construction being done. Soon, Burroughs and his team members then prepared to move out as Bugsy Lance's men attempted to storm their hiding place. After fighting off the amateur hitmen, the troops went to the roof and were immediately pinned down by Roberta's gunfire since she wanted revenge on Grey Fox for unintentionally killing Diego Lovelace in their Venezuelan mission. To evade her far-ranged attacks, Caxton ordered Wright and Horner to lay down suppressive fire while Burroughs and the rest ran onto another rooftop to escape Roberta's range.
At night, the troops sneaked their way into the adjacent alleyways so that they could escape the town and avoid further obstacles to their mission. As they remained hidden, they heard Roberta's loud scream, so Burroughs went to the building with Sanchez and Horner.[1] Seeing that the hallucinating Roberta was about to shoot Garcia Lovelace, Burroughs and Horner shot at her while Sanchez tossed a smoke grenade, allowing Horner to save the boy. While running away with his two comrades, Burroughs radioed to Caxton to tell him about Horner's feat, with Caxton commending Horner and deciding that they would get Garcia to a safe place. As another squad of U.S. troops fought off Roberta, Burroughs and Team Alpha kept watch of Garcia, who soon recognized Caxton as the man in a photograph of people suspected of killing his father. When no one was watching, Garcia grabbed a nearby pistol and tried to shoot Caxton, but Horner immediately disarmed the boy.
Burroughs and the others pointed their guns at Garcia when Caxton offered his gun to the boy upon learning his story, but Caxton told them to stand down. In the tense moment, they were interrupted by Roberta jumping down from the roof to attack Caxton, who pushed off Roberta as she ran away after Garcia pleaded with the troops not to shoot her. Subsequently, the Vysotniki cornered Roberta with gunfire while the U.S. troops escaped the city and boarded the Black Lagoon to continue their mission and go northward on the Mekong River.[2] After Caxton listened to Garcia's plan, Caxton went into the hold with the other troops and explained the plan. Surprised about Roberta's determination to continue pursuing them, Burroughs expressed his reluctance about the order not to neutralize Roberta, but Caxton sternly cut him off, and Ray solemnly assured Caxton that they would follow through with the mission.[3] Once arriving in the Golden Triangle, the U.S. troops began surveilling the jungle area near Shue Yan's camp. In the pitch black of night, Roberta began her attack and killed several U.S. soldiers. While being paired up with Sanchez as a sniper team, Burroughs was killed while he was trying to spot Roberta through his sniper rifle lens.[4]
