Caroline Morgan (キャロライン・モーガン Kyarorain Mōgan) was a pirate and self-proclaimed descendant of the admiral and pirate Henry Morgan. She was a swordswoman who wielded a pirate blade passed down from the 17th century, and she was a character in the Black Lagoon light novel Shaitane Badi.

Appearance[]

Caroline was an adult Caucasian woman with wavy blond hair and a large chest. She wore a blouse with many frills and a gold-buttoned tailcoat, as well as a genuine tricorn hat with a feather.[1]

History[]

Chapter 1[]

The redheaded Jane hired several people, including Caroline and her 8 men also dressed as pirates, Jake, Stanislav Kandinsky, and Shadow Falcon, to board the Black Lagoon as transport so that they could attack the Hong Kong Triad Zaltzman tanker. While Dutch (who did not know that the tanker belonged to the Triad) steered the Black Lagoon to track the ship, Caroline and the others took refuge in the cramped-up hold of the Lagoon Company boat. Inside, Rock and Revy had to keep an eye on them as Caroline gleefully explained her family history to Jake, who was interested in her swashbuckling pirate life. Jake asked her to prove her lineage, so Caroline showed him her saber with Henry Morgan's name carved onto it, with Jake then asking if she should be swinging the sword around instead of having it in a museum.

During Caroline's answers to Jake's questions, Caroline looked at Revy, who gave her a glare. Jake interrupted the glare by asking Caroline why she was on their current job, and she replied that she decided to do pirating elsewhere until pirating became easier in the Caribbean, where she originally tried to attack drug runners. Revy grew more tired of the conversation, and Jake finally asked her where her ship was, given that she was a pirate. Caroline explained that her helmsman came down with syphilis, and she herself could only steer ships that had sails on them, not modern GPS and radar ships. When Jake asked her if she could just hire someone else, Caroline added that she could not find many helmsmen who could speak English, and Jake sarcastically responded that maybe it was her dress code, finally growing tired of her talk as well. Ending their conversation, Jake looked at Revy and tried to flirt with her, but Revy told them to shut up, surprising Caroline since she thought Revy (a Chinese-American) could not speak English.

As Revy angrily dismissed Jake's endeavors, Caroline was left confused while she was left out of the conversation. When Jake pulled out his pistol on Revy, Caroline recognized his customized gun, realizing that Jake was Ultimate Cool J., the owner of the Deadly Biz website. Jake was flattered by her excitement as well as her remark that she checked his website every day. Excited by his gun, Caroline then asked Revy to show her gun to everyone. Accordingly, Revy nonchalantly pulled her gun on Jake, but Rock shyly interrupted to inform them that they were almost at their destination. As Revy told everyone to exit the hold, Caroline reciprocated a resentful glare towards her. In the pitch black of night in the Indonesian seas, Caroline got onto the Zodiac boats that the assault team brought on board, and she and the others traveled to the oil tanker in pre-planned positions.

Soon, the assault team boarded the ship's deck, and Stanislav stationed himself onto the tanker's top mast, firing a flare into the air to indicate a change in plans due to the Lagoon Company's change of heart to side with the Triad tanker. Caroline got onto the ship and led her pirate men aboard, speaking like an old-fashioned pirate caricature. On the deck, a crew member ran out of a door right in sight of the intruders, freezing in shock. When Caroline demanded that he hand over some treasure, Jake simply shot the man in the stomach, shocking Caroline. In a loss for words, she wondered why Jake killed an unarmed man, and he replied that their mission was to kill Mister Chang, elaborating that the ship did not have any goods onboard.

Caroline, thinking to herself that she would not have accepted the job if she knew that killing someone was part of the mission, began to berate Jake for senselessly killing someone, but he interrupted her by immediately shooting her right between the eyes, instantly killing her. Caroline's pirate crew was shocked, however Jake told them that they could join him or run away, so the pirates disrobed their pirate gear and were glad to stop the charade and begin killing. Unfortunately for the assault team, many of the people died and they had to flee the tanker, leaving Mister Chang and the Lagoon Company alive.[1]

Chapter 3[]

During Benny's investigation of Jake's website, one of the comments that could be seen was Caroline stating that she liked Jake and wanted to "sleep with him."[2]

Caroline's sister Catherine Morgan, who wanted to avenge her sister's death

Much later after the failed attack on the Triad tanker and after Revy unintentionally avenged Caroline by killing Jake,[3] the Lagoon Company got a job from the Triad to make up for their last mission. As Rock tried to communicate with the ship that they were attacking, a Vosper MTB ship drove toward his boat, and he was bewildered by seeing a pirate cannon on the newcomer boat along with people dressed in pirate gear. With both Revy and Rock in shock, a woman who looked exactly like Caroline introduced herself as Catherine Morgan, the sister of Caroline, wanting revenge for the Lagoon Company allegedly killing her twin sister. Dutch, tired from their previous week of chaos, asked Revy if she wanted to reason with the enemy ship, and Revy angrily responded that she could take out the pirate ship, and the two boats began to exchange gunfire.[4]
