Chesterton (チェスタートン Chesutāton) is a CIA case officer. He is a recurring character in the spinoff manga Eda Initial Stage.
Appearance[]
Chesterton is an older Caucasian man with a large build, pale skin, nasolabial folds, and short light-colored hair with short bangs parted to the right side. On duty, he wears a dark suit with a light dress shirt underneath, and in his free time he is seen wearing a dark cardigan sweater over a light-colored dress shirt and jeans.
Eda Initial Stage history[]
Chesterton has one granddaughter. He has been a CIA case agent for many years.
MIAMI VICE[]
In a meeting with fellow case officers, Chesterton was skeptical of Eda's ability to continue as a field agent due to her recklessness on her recent case in a Central American country. Saying that they should view the aftermath differently, Richard Ravencroft defended Eda by claiming that her actions in the country weakened the North Gulf Cartel's influence and made the secret police owe the CIA a favor, making it easier for the CIA to operate there. Chesterton was still uncomfortable since Eda had allowed her immediate superior and agent Ruggles to get killed on her assignment. Also defending Eda, the case officer who was Ruggles's handler remarked that Ruggles was a difficult agent to work with anyway, and Ravencroft advised that they should wait and see what would happen next, intriguing Chesterton.[1]
Wandering Old Case Officer[]
Hearing about the disappearance of the former case agent Harold Meyer, Chesterton had a gut feeling that something bad would happen, so he had Ravencroft meet him discreetly at a park bench in Tidal Basin, Washington, D.C. Sitting on the bench, Ravencroft asked him why he summoned him, but Chesterton's granddaughter interrupted to happily inform her grandfather about a nearby ice cream vendor. Giving his granddaughter some change, he politely told her to get some ice cream for herself. Beginning the conversation, Chesterton asked Ravencroft if he knew what was the most necessary skill for a CIA agent.
Confused, he replied that an admission test would determine one's suitability. Retorting that was not what he meant, Chesterton clarified that intuition was the best skill, stating that one should know when bad things would happen. Watching his granddaughter in the distance buy her ice cream, he told Ravencroft about the retired agent Meyer, whose wife died the previous year and whose family died in an accident years ago. The mustached agent agreed that it was quite a sad story, asking Chesterton if he thought that Meyer committed suicide. Answering that he had a hunch, he asked Ravencroft to privately take care of Meyer before he tried anything since he did not want anything bad coming out to the CIA or the public. Slouching forward, Ravencroft agreed and smilingly asserted that he would owe him for the help. Subsequently, Eda and Amber Whinberry journeyed to track down Meyer on Chesterton's behalf.[2]
A Savage Place[]
Though not present in this story, Ravencroft mentioned to Amber that Chesterton was the person who gave him his position at the CIA.[3]
