Choptop[1] (チョップトップ Chopputoppu) is Sawyer the Cleaner's assistant and student who helps her in corpse disposal jobs. As a freelancer, he also takes jobs independent of his teacher.
Appearance[]
Choptop is a young adult man with a skinny build. His head is completely shaven except for a single long ponytail growing from his crown. He is of the punk subculture and accordingly is adorned with various piercings, including a tongue piercing, two piercings on his right temple, one piercing on his left upper lip, two piercings on his bottom right lip, and three ear piercings (two on his left ear and one on his right ear). He also has a distinctive stitch circling his entire crown. He commonly wears an open light-colored vest over a short-sleeved dark shirt, and he also wears dark pants and black boots. He has a pistol for a weapon, but he rarely ever uses it.
Personality[]
Choptop is a very cheerful and ambitious person. He likes to crack jokes even in tense situations, which greatly contrasts with the quiet Sawyer. He acts very polite to everyone whom he meets; for example he will politely reject an offer that he has no interest in. He has little to no combat skills and usually leaves the fighting to his teacher Sawyer, whom he admires greatly. Although willing to work with various criminals, he will ultimately maintain his loyalty to Sawyer if any of his jobs are against her interests.
Gore Gore Girl history[]
Volume 4[]
Outside a farmhouse, Choptop was greatly excited to meet the legendary Sawyer the Cleaner, telling her that he was a newcomer in the cleaning industry but could do his part well. The two cleaners walked inside the farmhouse and saw several corpses. Choptop excitedly commented that a psycho-killer and a gang killed each other, joking that everyone in the end collapsed together. Interrupting his lightheartedness, Sawyer silently showed him a mop, but he put his hands together and chimed that he was a corpse specialist and could not clean up. Unamused, she still showed it to him, although Choptop sarcastically replied that it was great but recommended that they stick to inspecting the place for the day. He added that the landlord's victims might also appear besides the visible corpses, remarking that it was impossible to get help in the heat.
Wanting to explore, Choptop walked above floorboards with several human skulls hidden beneath. Squatting down, he examined that the corpses had injuries in their crotch area, joking that someone must have had a grudge against their genitals. Poking one corpse with a stick, Choptop recalled that the killer was a man, but the punk could not find a corpse that looked like him. Sawyer looked to her left into another room, and he was curious about the locked wooden door that they saw. Choptop tried kicking the lock but injured his foot, making the eye-rolling Sawyer cut the lock open with bolt cutters. Inside, they found a shaggy-haired skinny man with a tattered shirt who had his tied-up arms hanging upward against the wall. Choptop was amazed and asked the survivor if he was a murderer or a gang member.
When Sawyer turned on her chainsaw, Choptop asked her if she was going to "clean him up," but the man softly informed them to be careful since someone was still there, confusing him. From the floorboards beneath them, two hedge clipper blades jammed through and barely missed chopping Choptop's crotch, terrifying the punk even more when the blades suddenly re-emerged multiple times in an attempt to sever his genitals. As Choptop realized that the ground stabbing was the reason all of the corpses had crotch injures, the tied-up man asked him to break his chains since he knew the house's layout and how to deal with the murderer. The punk agreed and confirmed that he was a cleaner when the man asked him if he was one. Smiling slyly, the man informed Choptop he had actually lured the enemy into his trap, menacingly adding that the "job" for them was actually to clean up the survivors and not the corpses.
Laughing, Choptop asked him what he was talking about, and the man coldly stated that he would kill the "woman" (Sawyer). Laughing in disbelief, he advised the old man not to act stupid. As Sawyer prepared her chainsaw and gave an evil eye, the man grabbed an axe and told Choptop to help him kill her since she was his enemy, confusing him again. Knocking his boot onto the floorboards, the man signaled to "Alice" beneath to kill the woman on her end, confessing to Choptop that Alice was his daughter. Laughing, Choptop realized that he executed the gangs, sarcastically remarking that it was a pity. Grasping his axe, the man clarified that the gang killed his wife and two sons. Telling Choptop that he was not sure if Sawyer was working as a client of the gang, he shouted at Sawyer that she would not be leaving alive. As Sawyer glared and powered up her chainsaw in response, Choptop panicked and ran toward her, making the man warn him to stop and rhetorically ask if the punk wanted to get killed by her.
To Sawyer's surprise, Choptop purposefully tackled her, making her boot knock on a floorboard. Mistaking Sawyer's foot for her father's, Alice opened the floorboard as her father swung his axe at Sawyer, but his axe's downward swing missed Sawyer and hit Alice instead, terrifying him. In the commotion, Choptop still wrestled with Sawyer to dissuade her fighting, but her chainsaw swing during their spinning hit the man, splashing blood everywhere. After the gory mess, Choptop began to mop the farmhouse floor and he commented how scary the ordeal was, joking to Sawyer that he thought she was really going to kill him. When he stated proudly that he was now Sawyer's student, she looked at him with a baffled expression as he happily assured her that she could count on him.[2]
Seeking out a rich-paying job, Choptop got a gig from a mysterious client to salvage a coffin from the sea and bury it in the Roanapur Public Cemetery. Using a salvage boat and bringing Sawyer along despite her seasickness, in due time the boat's salvage arm hoisted up a large coffin, with Choptop flashing a grin upon noticing the booty. As the diver climbed the stern's ladder, Choptop remarked that his info was correct and he did not expect the coffin to be lifted so quickly. Speaking about the story looking over the deck, he commented that his client's request did not make sense since it costed a lot of money but the client apparently had no problem. Looking to Sawyer for agreement, he saw that she was still sitting with her face buried in her hands. Asking her if she was still mad, he reminded her that he got the job on his own, but Sawyer only looked slightly up for a second and started to voicelessly whimper into her knees.
He asked if she had seasickness, trying to cheer her up by agreeing that it was tough and telling her that she would only have be patient for a little longer. As Sawyer's seasick face perked up slightly, Choptop turned his head leftward and was surprised to see a fishing boat in the distance. Choptop's captain ran to him and ordered all men to prepare their weapons since pirates were pursuing. As Choptop looked to the pirates, he saw three boats of bandana-wearing pirates all carrying AK rifles. The pirates inched closer to the boat, causing the captain to order everyone to tie themselves to the boat or he would let their bodies fall into the sea. When the boat made a sharp turn, one of the divers began shooting at the pirates while Sawyer held onto a pole biting her mouth in sickness. As Choptop hung onto the coffin, the captain stated that the pirates were aiming for their salvage, asking what exactly they wanted.
Choptop hung onto the tilting boat for dear life and yelled that he had no idea, and one pirate fired an RPG at the boat. The rocket successfully hit the railing area, making one crew member fly into the air off the boat and into the mouth of a large, jumping shark. Having witnessed the whole thing, Choptop screamed in terror. He also saw several shark fins poke out of the water, and he tried to tell the captain but was shocked to notice the latter wielding an RPG-7. The captain fired the rocket at one of the pirate boats, blowing the pirates into the water to be ravenously eaten by the sharks. Looking over the railing in awe, Choptop praised his captain, but a rocket hit the rail, blowing away the captain. Still greatly confused, Choptop returned to hanging onto the coffin as the remaining pirates fired more rockets that successfully hit the hull.
Sawyer herself dizzily flied back and forth as Choptop helplessly watched another sailor fly overboard and eaten by a jumping shark. As the punk screamed about the boat sinking, he turned around to see an angry, drooling Sawyer brandishing her chainsaw. As Sawyer angrily wiped the bit of vomit from her lips, Choptop asked her if she became less dizzy after throwing up. A huge shark jumped toward Sawyer, who flashed a murderous grin as she swung her chainsaw, but the shark merely knocked her away with its tail fin, knocking her unconscious. As the sharks left the area, Choptop was shocked at seeing Sawyer lose, and her chainsaw was seen sinking into the sea.
Much later, having made it to land at the harbor, Sawyer sat on her side curled up with the coffin resting on top of her as Choptop stretches his arms in relief. Looking at his teacher, Choptop told her that he was glad she managed to reach land, also adding that he shook off the pirates. Curious about the contents of the widely desired coffin, he found a male skeleton surrounded by water and dressed in a suit with its hands clasping a square box. He took the box and saw the keyhole, questioning how to open it while unaware that Sawyer's key earring was the real key.[3]
Some day later walking in public, Choptop was greeted by an old woman with glasses driving near, telling the punk that he was her type. Replying to her that he was already settled, the old woman calmly laughed and drove away. Hearing another elderly voice calling for the "young man," Choptop turned around to see a frail old woman with an umbrella strolling a small cart, asking the punk if he would like to join her for tea. Smiling awkwardly, Choptop politely rejected the woman and went to the Roanapur Public Cemetery to talk to Sawyer and Bunny the Undertaker, both who used the coffin that Choptop had salvaged as a table. Telling them his dilemma, he rested his head on his arm and recalled how two people were flirted with by an old woman and disappeared, wondering if there was some kind of curse.
Pointing to Choptop and looking at Sawyer, Bunny joyfully asked her who he was and if she could bury him. When The Undertaker No. 2 offered Choptop some tea, he smiled at her and complimented her breasts, quickly switching to his topic of interest. Placing the square box on the table, he reminded them that the coffin was recently salvaged and he still had to bury the coffin and its skeleton in the cemetery per his mysterious client's request. Asking the women about the locked box, he recalled how the pirates that attacked the boat must have really wanted the treasure, angrily asking where the key could be. As Choptop facepalmed in disappointment, Sawyer took off her key earring and decided to insert it into the box's keyhole, finding out that it matched. Now completely interested, Choptop repeatedly asked Sawyer what was inside as Bunny looked while Sawyer slowly lifted the box's lid.
Only seeing a ring case and a folded piece of cloth stuck next to it, Choptop took out the cloth, noting that it was made out of skin. Seeing numbers and alphabets, he recognized the writing as a cipher. As Bunny thought of something, several men suddenly appeared and pointed their guns from behind Choptop, telling them to hand over the treasure. Sarcastically telling Sawyer's group not to worry, a short-haired man told them that they were hired by the same client and would let them keep the hard-won coffin to bury, clarifying that they would take the box. To their surprise, another group of gunmen appeared behind the women, and their shaggy-haired leader threatened them to give up the box or be disappeared. In frustration, Choptop asked them if they were affiliated with the pirates, but he immediately realized that both groups were at odds with each other.
When the long-haired leader remarked that he would end things quickly, both groups of gunmen began shooting at each other, causing the four cemetery attendees to duck near the coffin. As Choptop grabbed the box and advised Sawyer to run away, a dark-haired gunman from the short-haired man's group pointed his weapon at the punk, telling him he would not escape. To his fortune, Sawyer and Bunny came to his aid as the former thrust her chainsaw into the man's chest while Bunny decapitated him with her shovel, killing him. Watching the two women fight, Choptop and No. 2 enthusiastically cheered them on. Although the two women managed to kill most of one group, one man suddenly put his gun to the back of Sawyer's head, sarcastically bidding her goodbye. Out of nowhere, the man quickly had his head decapitated by a wire before he can even think.
Revealing herself, Jessica chimed in to everyone that she wanted a cup of tea and wanted to join the party, viciously smiling that the real hell would begin, shocking Choptop but not fazing Sawyer and Bunny. Preparing to kill, Sawyer held up her chainsaw while Jessica held a knife. Choptop commented that they should run away since they have already killed enough men from one group, but the two women cut up a nearby gunman. Interrupting them and having recognized the cipher before the men arrived, Bunny told Sawyer that the symbols matched a lot and number in the cemetery. Elaborating, she stated that the lot was where a splendid tomb had resided for a long time but had no one inside. Surprised, Choptop asked about the coffin that he salvaged, and Bunny clarified that the skeleton inside was supposed to be buried in the splendid tomb. As the remaining men continued to shoot at each other, the punk also remarked that even if a jewel was inside the ring case, their enemies' efforts seemed like overkill.
Feeling two guns pressed to his head, Choptop sweated and turned his head to see the two elders who spoke to him earlier that day. Yelling to the men, the elderly women tell them that they could go home now, remarking that they were useless. As the elders grinned at each other, they bantered with each other and turned their guns on one another. Grinning curiously, Choptop asked them to tell him what was buried in the cemetery. When the glasses woman asked him if he truly wanted to know, Balalaika instantly appeared with other Hotel Moscow members, calmly telling the ladies that they could stop bickering and that the goods belonged to Hotel Moscow. As Choptop's jaw dropped in fear upon seeing Balalaika, she held out her hand and ordered him to hand over the box, which he did so fearfully. Balalaika reminded the two women that the ring was supposed to be given to one of them by a man who had an infatuation with them both.
Chuckling, Balalaika opened the ring case to show that there was no ring inside, clarifying that the man could not choose between the women and decided to send himself to the bottom of the sea in a coffin. Balalaika offered to take them out for a drink, and the women agreed, remarking that it had been 60 years since they shared a drink together. As the three women walked away together, Balalaika casually told Sawyer's group that she would cover their bill to clean up and bury the corpses from the two-sided massacre. Getting up after crouching, the nervous Choptop asked if his fee would be covered too.[4]
Volume 5[]
Sometime later, Choptop took a job from Picton, a human trafficker, as a cleaner for cleaning up the aftermath of a child exploitation film. In the backseat of a van, Choptop tried to quickly reorganize a cluttered pile of VHS tapes of child exploitation films on the seat and car floor. Asking Picton if the videos were all the same type, Picton likewise asked Choptop if he wanted one tape, adding that the content was unedited and unlabeled with "big hits" inside. Choptop politely refused, saying that he was not attracted to children. Speaking about the tapes, Picton stated that the videos were rare items of guaranteed quality, including specials that were not wholesaled at Rowan's business. Recalling that his film crew was still "hunting," he told Choptop that he would leave up the cleaning to him. Out the front window a few meters away, the two men saw a young girl, Jacqueline, chase a fleeing cameraman, who was quickly brought down by a stab to his left ankle.
The confused Choptop asked if the cameraman was one of the hunters, and Picton angrily prepared his pistol. As the girl stabbed the cameraman's neck, she saw the large man lean out the window in the corner of her vision, so she quickly lifted the cameraman's body as a shield against two bullets, quickly fleeing behind a nearby building corner. As the van sped on the street after Picton ordered someone to bring several people for backup, he asked Choptop if he recalled when all of Roanapur had a wide hunt ended by Hotel Moscow, and the punk recalled that the perpetrators were supposedly twin brats. Elaborating, the driver stated how a family made up of the same "human garbage" had been exposed in the United States and those displaced people moved to Roanapur. Connecting the fleeing girl to the family, Picton recalled that she was likely a member of that same family, adding that all the city's syndicates were taking interest.
He also added that unlike the twins, the family in question had learned how to live in Roanapur by not interfering with others' businesses, remarking that their business was similar to his own. As they continued driving, they spotted the girl with her katana surrounded by three men, seeing that the crew already found her. At the same time, both men got a closer glance and saw Sawyer helping the girl injure the men with her chainsaw, surprising Choptop in particular but hiding his surprise from Picton. Stepping out of the car, Picton berated his men for not bringing a camera, and he noticed the girl swinging her katana. While Choptop watched his client aim his pistol at her again, he witnessed the girl instantly vanish in the blink of an eye and then reappear in front of Picton to cut off his right hand. As Picton began to writhe in agony on his stomach, the girl was suddenly grabbed by her hood by Sawyer, who fled with the girl. As Picton yelled that he would not forget the incident, Choptop peered from behind a corner and snickered, as he had recorded the encounter with a video camera.[5]
Later after Picton hired someone who successfully captured Jacqueline, Sawyer still wanted to save the young girl, so Choptop drove her around town. Speaking to Sawyer about Picton, the punk recalled that Picton called the place "the studio." Adding that a kidnapped child would likely be taken to said studio, Choptop shuddered as he commented that he would not have been able to initially save Jacqueline had he followed Sawyer since the "vampire" Martin was after her. He additionally stated that the vampire mercenary who captured Jacqueline was fragile but made one's arms stand up, clarifying that Martin thought that he was a vampire due to a congenital disorder relating to his skin being incredibly vulnerable to sunlight.
According to him, Martin only acted at night and supposedly regularly drank actual human blood. Moving his eyes to her, Choptop asked Sawyer if she was going to help Jacqueline after all, and Sawyer rubbed her chin and pondered. Eventually, the two cleaners arrived at the studio and inside, they saw the gory aftermath of a large pool of blood and Picton's hook hand. Choptop and his teacher then stood by as Jacqueline reunited with her sister Jessica to the latter sister's relief.[6]
Volume 6[]
Inside a windowed apartment with other cleaners, Choptop mopped blood off the floor, telling Sawyer that it was not the first time that they cleaned a scene in the same building. As Sawyer helped mop the place, another female part-time cleaner saw a human-shaped imprint on the wall with a waving gesture, and Choptop interrupted her to ask her what she was doing with them since she was just a young woman and could make money in other ways. With a saddened look, she remarked that her cleaner job was more like punishment for not engaging in other methods of money-making, causing Choptop to laugh. Joking, he told her to throw up outside if needed since there would be more aftermath to clean, and she nervously agreed. Thinking to herself, the part-timer asked why no one else including Choptop had noticed the human imprint, but she decided not to question further.
Three days later, Sawyer and her crew came back to the same building, which Choptop recognized as the same place that they just cleaned days ago. Finding it odd, he tried to tell Sawyer about it, but she only expressed a bored expression and entered the building. Inside, they saw several corpses hanging from the ceiling, and Choptop noted that the floor was covered in excrement, and he also saw that the part-timer had returned to join their cleaning job once more. He asked her if she had finished her "punishment" yet, she nervously stayed silent. When he asked her if she wanted to become a pro in the cleaning business, she disagreed, making Choptop laugh, and he told her to do her best. A bald cleaner asked if they found it strange that their job was the same building but Choptop answered that it was not good to stick one's head in the recent history.
Seeing the cleaner's curiosity, Choptop informed him that the apartment belonged to some subdivision with the exception of that room which had a different owner. While Sawyer overheard them, the cleaner then asked if someone bought it privately and rented it out, with Choptop agreeing that it was suspicious. Gaining the other cleaners' attention, they all huddled around and listened to Choptop whisper to them how the place might be a cleaning room, pointing out the cause of death all over the place. Seeing that they were talking instead of working, Sawyer loudly slammed her broom's hilt onto the floor, making Choptop apologize and the cleaners startled. Finding the part-timer with a bucket, Choptop calmly greeted her again, asking her if she wanted to go to dinner after their job, adding that he would treat her.
Seeing her shocked reaction, Choptop laughed and apologized, telling her to let him know if she changed her mind. Stating she had a question, Choptop agreed to listen, and she pointed out the wall. As he turned his head to look, they both heard a loud noise in the other room. A pickaxe-wielding man kicked down the cleaning room's door, and he claimed that he knew a particular person was there. Lifting the pickaxe over his shoulder, the bearded man cried and claimed that someone hid in the place every night and demanded the person to stop laughing in his head. While the cleaners were angrily confused, he yelled and charged near the startled Sawyer, but he instead picked against the wall to her left, attempting to break it open. Whereas one of the cleaners asked him if he was a drug addict, the part-timer wondered why he aimed for that particular wall.
After the man broke it open, the cleaners peered inside to see a religious altar with several human skulls and dozens of prayer slips hanging from the hidden room's ceiling. Two cleaners then restrained the bearded man, and Choptop looked in the room and commented that there might be a curse and pointed to a door inside, indicating that someone was frequently in and out. The other two cleaners asked him if he was cleaning the new room as well, which Choptop declined, saying that the part-timer could do it. Seeing their confused expressions, Choptop pointed to her direction, but the two men told him that they did not know any part-timer, greatly confusing him. He then immediately noticed the human imprint on the wall and freaked out, and the imprint whispered "you found me."[7]
After a rainy funeral, Choptop and Sawyer sat in the Roanapur Public Cemetery to drink some tea with Bunny, and Choptop recalled how the Clay brothers put a whopping bounty of $50,000 on Wraith. Carrying a plate of tea, The Undertaker No. 2 asked if it was Mr. Clay who was buried last time, also asking what Choptop meant by "Wraith." The punk answered that he was a murderer who had never been seen before, hence why people called him Wraith. Turning to Sawyer, he recommended that she accompany him. Finishing her tea, Sawyer put down the cup and carried her chainsaw, making Choptop smile and say that it was what he thought.
Back at the cemetery after another funeral for a Clay relative, Bunny began to fill up the grave with No. 2 standing by, and they heard Choptop yell at them to stop filling in the grave. Also accompanying him, Sawyer put on her various protective equipment and opened the casket as Bunny watched. Using a locking clamp, Sawyer pulled out a small bottle from the corpse and handed it to the happy Choptop. Examining it and smiling, he told the women that the informant had swallowed an important clue to Wraith's whereabouts, adding that he was glad to speak with him beforehand. Out in town, Choptop ran with Sawyer following behind as the former yelled about Wraith running in a particular direction. Urging that they could not let him escape, he frustratingly claimed that he was the one who found Wraith, specifying that he was an old man and that he did not want the bounty to be taken by bounty hunters.
The next day at the cemetery in the sun after Wraith had evaded them, No. 2 asked Choptop what happened in the end. Crossing his legs and drinking a cup of tea, he claimed disappointingly that Wraith was seen again several times until eventually being killed by "Two Hands" Revy and his corpse handed over to the Clay brothers. As Sawyer sipped on her cup of tea, No. 2 contemplated and wondered out loud if no one else was involved with the old man since he went so long without anyone discovering his true identity. She asked Choptop how he felt about that, and he sighed and claimed that he knew that. Feeling a drop of rain hit his head, he pointed out the beginning rain, saying that he had to go and asked Sawyer if she was coming with him.[8]
Receiving a job to clean up some bloody aftermath on an island, Choptop brought along several cleaners with him, including Sawyer. Kneeling on the bow of the ship, Choptop squinted and covered his eyes to get a closer look at the island in the distance. Saying that the payment for the cleaning job was huge, Choptop assured them that it was not dangerous. Arriving at the island's dock and anchoring the boat, Choptop told the disembarking assistants that the rich owner gathered people on the island to make them kill each other, and the cleaners needed to clean up the mess before the next game. Having held in her mouth for the ride, Sawyer disembarked and immediately vomited on the ground, making Choptop tell her that the ship sailed pretty weakly.
At that moment, the ship was blown apart by an RPG and everyone near was tossed back by the blast. Concerned for his teacher, Choptop asked Sawyer if she was all right, and he found her to see that she was fine but was vomiting once again. The assistants stood up and wondered what just happened, and they spotted on the small mountain an RPG wielder with a three-holed mask. They all angrily questioned who was on the island since they thought only dead people were on it, and over a loudspeaker they heard a recorded voice repeatedly telling them that they would kill each other. As Choptop wondered aloud if the voice was the guy left behind by management, several other men with the same mask surrounded them and pointed their pistols at the cleaners. The RPG wielder also greeted them with a pistol, stating that he knew the cleaners did not carry weapons.
Forcing the cleaners to walk, the men brought them to a corral enclosed by the rocky hills with a small house and smaller corral enclosed within the main corral. Choptop asked what it was, and the men answered that it was their base with the only building provided by management. In surprise, Choptop asked them if they were genuinely abandoning and killing each other on the island, and the man behind him laughed, clarifying that he and the others wanted to kill more to continue the game. The men elaborated that they stayed and killed the next newcomers until the people in charge noticed it and sent hunters to eliminate them, but the hunters either got killed or teamed up with them, saying that they got their firearms from them. The captors then claimed that the management sent cleaners next and added that there was a rule that only five people could live on the island at a time, making Choptop rhetorically ask if they wanted his group to enjoy the manhunt.
The men stated that they would give him a chance, confusing Choptop. Specifying that it was a one-on-one battle, one man asked if he wanted to try. From the small building stepped out a tall, broad, masked man with a chainsaw behind his shoulders, and the men told Sawyer and Choptop that he was Number 1 on the island, claiming that whoever beat him got to make everyone else their servant. Stepping forward, Sawyer glared at Number 1 and silently accepted the challenge to Choptop's hesitation. The long-haired gunman was skeptical of Sawyer since she was a woman, but his accomplices cheered and stated that the woman was showing heart. Having to agree to the other men's encouragement, the long-haired man showed Sawyer a selection of various melee weapons, so Sawyer proudly grabbed a chainsaw.
While Choptop cheered her on, Number 1 swung his chainsaw forward, which Sawyer dodged, and he made a sideways swing that Sawyer ducked to evade. Eventually, Sawyer managed to cut his side, spewing blood everywhere and felling him. Impressed, the island men declared Sawyer their new queen, but she turned around and looked at them while still carrying the chainsaw, making them blankly freeze from the obvious consequence of the outcome. While Sawyer began to slash apart the masked men, Choptop turned to the surviving but shocked assistant, letting him know that the he was aware that the latter was a spy sent by the island's management, telling the man to hitch them a boat if he did not want to end up like the men being killed by Sawyer. Nervously sweating, the man agreed and left. Later, the Black Lagoon arrived to the island with Rock and Revy standing on the deck, and Choptop and his teacher embarked on the PT boat.[9]
Volume 7[]
While waiting in the hold of the Black Lagoon, Choptop and the surviving cleaners were ordered by Revy to come with her on deck. Outside, they saw a large ship next to theirs, prompting the punk to ask about it. Revy clarified that she called to the ship but received no response. Guessing that it was a smuggling ship, she joked that it would make for fun orienteering and asked the cleaners to come with her, explaining that she did not want to put her other crew members at risk but would share any treasure they found with the cleaners. Shocked at the request, Choptop lambasted the idea since he and the cleaners were not carrying weapons. As Revy warned him and the other two men not to complain since she and her crew saved them from dying on the island, Sawyer noticed a silhouette looking over the large ship's railing. The silhouette quickly hid, so Sawyer pointed to it, but they did not pay her any attention. Allowing them to explore the ship, Dutch ordered the five to return immediately if the situation went awry.
Once getting onto deck, Revy wondered if the ship was attacked by pirates, advising Choptop to be careful. When he anxiously reminded her that he only had fists for weapons, Sawyer brandished her chainsaw, making him feel awkward but safer. Leading the other four below the ship's deck, Revy suggested finding the hold first since she still felt weirded out by the absence of people. As they turned around a corner, the group discovered five bodies throughout the narrow hallway. Revy assessed that the scene was the aftermath of a battle and wondered if thieves attacked them and if the altercation was still ongoing. When she and the bandana cleaner notice the large bloody drag marks, the scared Choptop refused to go ahead of Revy. Soon, Walking behind Sawyer, Choptop asked if she had gotten better after vomiting from seasickness. Suddenly, Sawyer felt queasy and vomited, surprising him. Turning around, the bandana cleaner asked the surviving spy if he carried a weapon with him, but the man replied that he was only sent among them as an observer. Entering a nearby room, Choptop was frightened to see the bloody drag marks go across not only the floors but the walls and ceiling, and blood dripped down. He rhetorically asked how he was supposed to confront the culprit since they might have crawled on the ceiling. In contrast, Revy declared that their exploration had only become much more interesting. Although he agreed, Choptop urged her to turn back.
Up ahead, they heard a faint but scary noise, making the punk ask if it was a scream or the ship's creaking. Looking to the end of the hall, Revy noticed a silhouette peeking from behind a crate in the storage room. The silhouette hid, causing the group to follow it. Behind the corner, they found a small, crying girl cowering against the wall. Choptop was baffled that there was a kid on the ship, but Revy confidently deduced that the ship's cargo was not noted to other ships because it was a trafficking ship. As the pirate asked the girl what happened to the men on the vessel, the spy was killed after he intentionally sneaked away from the group.[10] Hearing the crushing of the spy's head, the cleaners and Revy went around the corner to see another blood trail, shocking them. Looking at the attacker's silhouette up ahead, Choptop pointed out that their demeanor was rather strange. Revy then saw that the large attacker was dragging a body, also discovering that the attacker was a large monkey.
Although the pirate tried to shoot at the monkey, the creature threw the spy's body at Revy, knocking her onto the ground into unconsciousness. Choptop was terrified even more, but the monkey merely continued to roar while dragging the spy's body to another part of the ship. Speaking up, the crying girl claimed that the monkey was named Ella. Hearing her, Choptop asked if she was good friends with the monkey, which she quietly confirmed. Before she could explain further, Choptop shouted in excitement, but she said that it was impossible to quell the monkey by then. Suddenly, they noticed Ella standing in front of them roaring at them again, frightening them. Coming to their aid, Sawyer turned on her chainsaw and fiercely glared at the primate, who immediately threw the spy's body at her. Sawyer attempted to cut through the body, but its weight knocked her down, as she was only able to cut part of it. As Ella jumped up and down in glee, Choptop warned the other two to run away, so the bandana cleaner carried the girl on his back and fled. Leaving with them, Choptop thanked Sawyer for coming to their rescue.
As the two men ran, Choptop still wondered who exactly the monkey was, asking the girl how she befriended it. The girl clarified that they only bonded because they were both in cages and next to each other, and the bandana cleaner asked her if she was the only child onboard the ship. The child answered that there was only one other child who was already dropped off at a port, so the panting Choptop advised her to be patient for the time being. Arriving at a different part of the ship, they came across various cages with screaming animals. Choptop guessed that they were all smuggled, comparing the collection to that of a zoo. Noticing one of the cages left open, the bandana cleaner pointed to it, and the two men confirmed from the girl that it was the monkey's cage. Noticing a powder scattered on the ground, Choptop looked toward the source of the powder, packets of cocaine. Shocked at the revelation, both cleaners realized that the monkey had consumed cocaine, hence her ferocity. Behind them, a man, the ship captain, pointed a shotgun at them and ordered the "thieves" to freeze, saying that all the cargo on the ship belongs to him. Claiming that he delivered rare cargo to ports all across the world, the captain proclaimed his ship as Noah's Ark, causing Choptop to insult him as a crazy person.
When the scared child refused to go with the captain, he declared that he would kill both men when Sawyer when suddenly Ella threw Sawyer at him, knocking the captain down. Ella charged toward the ship captain and slammed her fists onto his head, killing him instantly. Sawyer was also knocked back by the attack, and her strength had greatly decreased. As Choptop frantically wondered what he should do due to Sawyer's weakness, the primate continued roaring but stopped to vomit, falling asleep afterward. Smiling, Choptop was confused but realized that the monkey had overdosed on cocaine. Soon, the group departed from the ship and boarded Black Lagoon. In the bridge, Choptop asked Dutch if he left the child on the ship. The latter stated that he contacted the maritime police, admitting that he did not know how well the kid would fare. Accepting the story, Choptop grinned and suggested returning to land to get something to eat.[11]
In a later story, when a murderer couple began killing and dismembering various people throughout Roanapur, Choptop and Sawyer had received several of the dismembered corpses for disposal. While working with his teacher inside their workplace building, he examined one body, claiming that there were many missing corpses lately. Talking to Sawyer, he recalled that there were five corpses with missing arms, and the previous week the corpses had missing legs and other missing appendages in recent times. He wondered if the culprit was collecting body parts, remarking that it must have been a hobby and not for business purposes. Afterward, he accompanied Sawyer to the Roanapur Public Cemetery, where Jessica informed him and the others that the culprits behind the recent dismemberment were likely not members of her family. Looking to her right, The Undertaker No. 2 saw a boy staring at her and informed the others of his presence. Saying that he came around from time to time, Bunny the Undertaker confessed that he asked her out some day ago, shocking Choptop and the others. They immediately looked in the boy's direction but did not see him. No. 2 recalled that he had glasses, causing Choptop to ask her if he was a ghost, but she rejected the idea.[12]
On another night, Choptop returned to Sawyer's workplace and noticed an assistant mopping the floor, asking where their boss went. The man informed the punk that Sawyer returned home with a dead body, shocking Choptop since he wondered if she was skipping out on work. In reality, Sawyer had taken her time in disposing of a deceased elderly man who hired her to mercy kill him after being wounded.[13]
Volume 8[]
Somewhere in Roanapur, an old bearded man stole a bag containing twenty kilograms of cocaine, and Choptop heard about the news. Afterward, he headed to the Roanapur Public Cemetery on December 24 with Sawyer and relayed the story to her on the way there. As he entered the cemetery grounds, he saw the bearded man tied up and sitting down since he had tried to climb over the cemetery fence. Like Jessica and the others, Choptop believed that the old man was actually Santa Claus due to his white beard, red nose, and the bag which he carried, becoming ecstatic. He asked Jessica where they caught Santa, and she answered that he was a wild Santa Claus, remarking that she thought it was the end of the world when she heard Christmas was to be hosted in a cemetery. At that point, The Undertaker No. 2 handed out drinks to everyone, and Choptop donned a Santa hat to fit the party's theme. Bunny the Undertaker stated that it was her first Christmas celebration, to which Choptop laughed because the party was also his very first Christmas celebration.
Nonetheless, Bunny and Jacqueline discussed how criminals like themselves could not get presents. Wanting to escape, the old man spoke up and loudly retorted that Santa did not discriminate and served all children, including the bad ones. Embracing the Santa persona, he clarified that he was the Santa who specialized in giving gifts to bad children. After the bearded man departed once he got permission from the party attendees to leave, Choptop recalled to Sawyer that there was a remote-controlled timer bomb inside of the cocaine that was stolen but was not sure when it would detonate. The clock soon hit midnight, and everyone cheered at the same time the bomb detonated in the distance. Hearing the explosion, Choptop wondered if it was a cannon. Because of the explosion, the cocaine inside the bag flew into the air and dispersed throughout the area, including above the cemetery. Seeing the white flakes, Choptop and the others believed it was snow and believed it to be a Christmas miracle.[14]
In a later tale, Choptop met up with Doctor Picton because he still had a debt to pay to the deceased Picton. To free himself of the debt, the punk agreed to lure Sawyer to his circus to test her skills. When one of Doctor Picton's clowns left an advertisement for the circus at Sawyer's workplace, Choptop pretended to be baffled at the circus's presence in town. The two cleaners went to an abandoned market which was actually the Doctor's hideout, having to do a job to remove several drifters in the building. As they entered, they heard sounds nearby, causing the punk to say he could sense the presence of people but saw no one. Up ahead, the two noticed the silhouette of a clown looking at them. As Choptop tried to determine who they were, two acrobats swung past them, startling them. A few seconds later, another clown rolled past them on a large ball, and the four performers grinned at them. The tense Choptop pretended to wonder if they had been set up, commenting that he felt many eyes peering at him and Sawyer.
Hearing him claim that the performers want to make a spectacle out of them, Sawyer prepared her chainsaw while Choptop pulls out his pistol. Immediately, the two acrobats, armed with knives on their lower body, flew at the two, so Choptop shot at the female acrobat while Sawyer killed the male acrobat. Sawyer tried to assess her surroundings when several knives were thrown at her chest, surprising her. Despite the attack, the knives only bounced off her apron without injuring her, and she subsequently killed the clown. Seeing her action, Choptop admitted that he was glad he bought the knife-proof apron for her the other day. At that point, the punk suggested that they flee because the situation would likely become more dangerous. Behind him, a pair of hands grabbed him into the dark and silenced him, and he disappeared as Sawyer disposed of the remaining performer.
After the spectacle, Choptop discretly reconvened with Doctor Picton and asked how he liked Sawyer, admitting that he was ashamed of deceiving her. Thanking him for his hard work, Doctor Picton answered that the "show" was a financial success, assuring the punk that he would clear his debt to Picton. Mentioning that he would be running the Picton firm from then on, he again thanked Choptop for his "patronage," but the latter brushed it off and left.[15]
