Groovy Guy Russell[]
When his boss, a U.S. senator, planned on blackmailing Senator Jack Bonham with an embarrassing sex tape, Cyrus was assigned to ensure that the tape landed in his hands. However, Russell stole the tape from Leon Miller's blackmail collection on Washington, D.C.'s 14th Street, and Miller was killed in a freak accident while trying to pursue the cowboy. In response, the rival senator had Cyrus and another bodyguard find and abduct Russell to take him to an undisclosed location. Once he and his partner found Russell, they sneaked up behind him and subdued him, tying him to a chair once they returned to the interrogation location. Cyrus then stood by as the senator attempted to threaten and negotiate with Russell for the return of the tape. Because Russell claimed that the blackmail ring would be exposed to the public if he was still missing for another day, the senator decided that Russell would have a chance to be unharmed if he gave them the tape. At that point, Cyrus was ordered to accompany Russell to the place where he stored the tape.[1]

The next day, Russell was forced to sit in the backseat of a car with Cyrus as they were driven to the tape's location. While sitting in the back with him, Cyrus stayed silent and consistently ignored Russell's rant about how all U.S. senators were corrupt. The cowboy complained about alleged stomach pain and began to hunch forward, prompting Cyrus to sternly ask if he was done with his attempts to trick them. Annoyed with his behavior, Cyrus grabbed Russell's head to force him back up, but Russell suddenly grabbed his dropped cowboy hat and shoved it against the bodyguard's face. The cowboy then elbowed the hat into his face, dispersing a smoke powder that disoriented Cyrus and his senses. Russell then used the zip-tie around his wrists to subdue the driver, causing the car to crash into a street pole. Several minutes later, Cyrus and the driver realized that they were too late to pursue Russell since he was long gone from their immediate vicinity.
As a result of his failure to retrieve the tape and keep Russell detained, the rival senator fired Cyrus. Frustrated with his job loss and lack of income, the ex-bodyguard planned to retaliate against his former boss by handing over the rival senator's own blackmail tape to Jack Bonham. Not knowing how he could contact the senator to make the deal, Cyrus quickly tracked down Russell again after he briefly met up with Bonham at the Fontainebleau. Upon finding the cowboy, he held him at gunpoint and forced him to walk to the base of the Key Bridge. There, to Russell's surprise, Cyrus put away his gun and explained his job loss, adding that he had the blackmail tape of his former employer. The cowboy answered that though he wanted to help him, he ended his recent deal with Bonham on a sour note. Nonetheless, Cyrus was undeterred and demanded a definite answer on whether or not he wanted to partner up on the facilitation of the trade. Suddenly, above the two men, a car bumper became detached from Amber Whinberry's car and fell off of the bridge, flying right into Cyrus's face and knocking him unconscious. Shocked but realizing that he was no longer threatened by the bodyguard, Russell seized the opportunity and took the rival senator's blackmail tape from Cyrus's suit pocket, giving the extra tape to Bonham for more money.[2]
