History[]
Chase for ring-ding ships[]
When Chen was angry that Dutch refused to work for him due to a previous botched job, he decided to get revenge by tricking Dutch into going on a faux job. Accordingly, Chen spoke with Donnie, who was a trusted source to Dutch, and had him give Dutch a job to pick up a package from the Vietnamese military near Phú Quốc Island. While Dutch was walking through town, Donnie saw him and called for him, informing him about the job. Despite their previous relations, Dutch had already checked Donnie's economic background and noticed that, like Chen, he was not doing too well. Subsequently, Dutch and his crew took on the job since they had time to spare and he had prepared for the job going awry, successfully destroying Luak and his crew and foiling Chen's wish to kill the Lagoon Company.[1]
Greenback Jane[]
While Chen had been killed by Balalaika and Hotel Moscow for his attempt on Dutch's life, in the anime it was shown that Donnie himself was captured for his involvement in the setup. He was then brought to Balalaika's office at the Bougainvillea Trade Company building, where several Hotel Moscow members tied him up. With a gun to his head, Donnie was shot twice by Lazar as Balalaika smoked a cigar.[2]
