Plot[]
After pulling Fabiola into the pool with him, Garcia Lovelace happily asks her if she is surprised. Garcia tries to start a splash fight, but Fabiola grabs his shoulders and calmly pleads with him to listen her. He tells her that everything is all right, confusing Fabiola. The boy playfully asks if she thought that he was losing his mind, making her embarrassingly deny so. Both children confess to each other that they came across Roberta in Roanapur, with Fabiola stating that Roberta may never want to come back since she has forgotten the motivation behind her bloodlust. Also speaking seriously, Garcia responds that he agrees that they do not have a home to go back to, adding that Roberta's true desire is not revenge but atonement. Fabiola agrees as Garcia reasons that Roberta wanted to blame Grey Fox for everything that has happened, and the boy remembers that the major had come to terms with the murder.
Telling Fabiola to listen to him carefully, Garcia declares that he will save Roberta but needs Fabiola's help, informing her that she can return to Venezuela if the task is too much. Untying her hair, Fabiola answers that Roberta will certainly maintain her mental scars for the rest of her life. The boy in turn responds that he understands, but he wants to start over with her without forgetting what passed and can be her crutch instead of her savior. Rhetorically asking if they are truly going through with the plan, Fabiola compliments Garcia for not being another naive rich kid, extending her hand to him. He grabs her hand in turn as she declares that Roanapur's criminals took advantage of their situation to make moves for themselves, assuring Garcia that they will save Roberta. Kneeling their heads down, both hope that God will be with them.
