El Baile de la muerte Part 31, also called Chapter 74, is the seventy-fifth chapter of the Black Lagoon manga. It was originally released in June 2009.

Summary[]

Arriving in the Golden Triangle in the river border between Myanmar and Laos, Dutch informs the Grey Fox crew that they are at their desired destination. As Shane Caxton's men begin disembarking onto smaller rafts, Benny informs him that the Black Lagoon will be three miles downstream when Grey Fox has finished their mission and is ready to return. Caxton confirms that he already knows since he has provided his radio frequencies to Dutch. Before he leaves, Caxton informs Benny in turn that Dutch is not likely a Vietnam War veteran since he is too young, did not understand his military slang, and had clearly not known the operations that the U.S. Brown Water Navy's TF116 carried out during the war. Politely interrupting the two, Garcia and Fabiola tell them that they are coming with the troops, so Caxton hesitatingly assigns them to their team's command element. Requesting one more thing, Garcia asks for Caxton's pistol to his surprise.

After the troops leave, Rock comes on deck as Benny and Revy tell him that they already left. Snapping his fingers happily, Rock asks Benny if Garcia got Caxton's gun, which the relaxed Benny confirms. Slamming his fist into his other hand, Rock gleefully remarks that his plan will work against Mister Chang's desired outcome. In the pitch black jungle, the soldiers report back to each other about the area and make sure there are no booby traps. Surprised, several soldiers report back to Caxton about lots of wooden rods in the ground, wondering if they are markers of some variety. Ray asks if the rods are religious objects of the local indigenous groups, but Caxton replies that their briefing did not mention anything about rods. As the Lagoon Company pirates relax and listen to the radio frequency, Garcia remarks to Fabiola that Roberta is likely the culprit who placed the rods.

Team Echo reports back to Caxton's Team Alpha that they have arrived at the enemy camp but do not see any guards or sentry towers except for several bodies near the gate. Examining the area, they quickly report that "Package Romeo" (Roberta) is standing next to the disarmed Shue Yan, with Caxton yelling that they are the only ones in the jungle. As Roberta runs away from Yan, Caxton and the others see that he is surrounded by several Claymore mines. Garcia sees Roberta, but Caxton tells the boy that Shue Yan is their priority and must rescue him first. The army teams move around and radio to each other since Roberta has disappeared from their sights, and the angry Roberta begins preparing her musket. As Team Echo begins to see her, she immediately fires upon them.
