El Baile de la muerte Part 33, also called Chapter 76, is the seventy-seventh chapter of the Black Lagoon manga. It was originally released in August 2009.

Plot[]

As Roberta tends to her wound after killing several Grey Fox soldiers, Shane Caxton radios her and tells her that he will give himself up if she hands over Shue Yan to his men. Although she refuses at first and declares that she will never forgive his men, Garcia Lovelace takes the radiotelephone and convinces her to come out into the open to see Caxton. At dawn, Caxton walks with his hands up to the area with Garcia and Fabiola Iglesias following him, and Roberta sees him. Happy to see Garcia, Roberta comments that she cannot tell reality from imagination and that she can take the young master back to the estate after finishing her slaughter. Garcia calmly orders her to stop her rampage, making her furiously remind the young master that the U.S. soldiers killed his father. Suddenly, Garcia pulls out a pistol and shoots Caxton in the abdomen, terrifying Roberta since she does not believe that Garcia can kill anyone and believing that she must kill the U.S. Army major.

When the young boy responds that Roberta is not obligated to get justice or revenge and that she cannot make up for her sins but can stop, the shaking Roberta points her modified pistol at Garcia. As Roberta notices the hallucination of the man whom she killed years ago stand next to Garcia, the boy says that his bullet will not kill her, and he shoots his maid and she shoots back to Fabiola's shock. Smiling, Garcia emphasizes that both of them are not dead, and he begins to kiss her to snap her back into reality. Garcia then grasps his abdomen and falls down, shocking Roberta. Seeing the major wake up, Fabiola runs to Caxton and asks him if he is all right. As he assesses his wound, Roberta angrily turns her pistol on him, and Fabiola and Garcia both block her sights and urge her to stand down. Garcia then speaks about how they all danced with death and how he is willing to bear Roberta's sins and help her recover, surprising the speechless Roberta. Hugging her young master, Roberta remarks that he has truly grown up.

Later, Caxton's men arrive and tend to Garcia's minor wound, which is only a graze to the kidney. As they prepare to leave to rendezvous with the Black Lagoon due to the local military getting close to the area, Ray pulls out his rifle and points it at Roberta, telling Caxton that they cannot just let her go for killing several of their men. As Ray prepares to fire, a gunshot is heard but instead Caxton has shot Ray, felling him. Back on the PT boat, Rock is glad to see the Lovelace affiliates alive, stating that his plan that he relayed to Garcia worked. Angered, Fabiola shoots a fake bullet at Rock, berating him for exploiting her young master in his gambling on people's lives. Rock asks them if they are glad since they "won," but Garcia answers that Rock's only concern being the former's outcome and not the physical and mental injuries shows that he is a true resident of Roanapur, shocking the ex-salaryman.

Defending Rock, Revy angrily states that Garcia and Fabiola are preaching on a soapbox due to their hesitancy to kill people. Glaring at the two, Fabiola wishes to never see them again and tells them that they can continue their dance of death. Much later after both Grey Fox and the Lovelace affiliates leave Southeast Asia and return to their respective countries, Mister Chang goes to the Roanapur harbor and tosses a duffel bag of money to Rock for helping with the maid incident. Smoking a cigarette, Chang says that the whole debacle took a toll on his own strength, and Rock asks Chang if he views Rock as a villain. In response, Chang merely replies that Rock won his gamble but Garcia may not have achieved happiness since he will remember the situation and has to help Roberta recover. Telling Rock that he will have to think hard about the difference between good and evil, Chang offers to take him out for a drink and have a toast to the Lovelaces in South America.
