The Enos family (イーノス・ファミリー Īnosu famirī) is an American crime family in the Deep South. In Lakeside, they wanted to build a resort by acquiring Burt Gummer's suburban woodland property and clearing out the forest.
Overview[]
The crime family is led by the bloodline of Enos descendants, and it is unknown if the various gangsters in the family are related to each other. Being a wealthy family, they have a mansion as their base as well as a warehouse where numerous firearms and ammunition are stored.
Eda Initial Stage history[]
In the beginning, Enos I and his partner Needham joined forces and built up the Enos crime family. They had lived in squalor but in time became wealthy and built up their crime family, eventually owning a large mansion which served as the Enos family's base.[1] Additionally, the Enos family sought out the woodlands property that the Gummer family has owned for generations in order to build a resort with leisure facilities. When Enos I passed away, Enos II became the second head. In the 1980s, a young Enos II secretly dated and fell in love with Angela, the daughter of Burt Gummer, whose woodlands property was sought out by the Enos family for the purpose of clearing the forest and building a large resort. Unknown to the young man, his love was not requited, as Angela intended to deceive him. She convinced him to give $500,000 from his family's wealth to her, so he discreetly went to his mansion's safe and put $500,000 into a duffel bag.[2]
Reconvening with her, Enos II traveled with her in her car but was suddenly subdued by Angela and tied up to a fence off the road. Confused, he desperately asked her why she was departing alone, reminding her that she told him she could not betray or abandon her family. Saddened, he asked if she was abandoning him, to which Angela replied that she had had enough of being tied to their town in the Deep South. She elaborated that the people of the region were completely immersed in the old-fashioned place, spending their unchanging days drinking, gambling, and fighting to get rid of their sorrows. Commenting that it would probably remain the same 10 years into the future, she professed that she did not want to live like that and would rather be in charge of her own life. Distraught, Enos II pleaded with her not to go, exclaiming that he loved her. Hoisting the bag of money over her shoulder, Angela looked at him and bid her "darling" goodbye, smirkingly admitting that she loved him too. As she drove away in her car, the tied-down Enos tearfully shouted her name.[1]
In despair after being abandoned by his ex-love, he tried to commit suicide by diving with his car off a cliff into a canyon. Although he survived and was treated for his wounds, he had severe burns across his body and was paralyzed from the waist down, only being able to move with the use of a wheelchair. For the next 10 years, Enos II held onto his hatred of Angela, and the Enos family and Burt Gummer began feuding and occasionally clashing with each other in Lakeside.[2] At the same time, the Enos family's financial investment in the potential resort went toward failure because they had not acquired Gummer's land. Needham began to despise the second-generation Enos for losing a large amount of the family's money as well as lacking the resolve to finish Burt Gummer so that the resort investment could continue and not remain in vain. Frustrated with how Enos II ruined the crime family he had built, Needham made an alliance with Crocker, the local deputy sheriff, to take down Gummer so that they could achieve their respective goals of building the resort and controlling crime in town. The former had also plotted to become the family's leader and remove Enos II from power.[1]
A Savage Place[]
While driving in his Mercedes-Benz to escort Needham and two other gangsters, J.J. saw Eda speed past him in her Jeep while showing him the middle finger, with the latter insulting them for allegedly showing off. In the Benz, Needham expressed his offense at the behavior, stating that the women did not appear to know what happened to those who messed with them on their territory. He suggested that J.J. teach them a lesson, to which he enthusiastically agreed, proudly shouting that he would be glad to use his car with a tuned, 370 cid V8-380 engine. Speeding up his car, J.J. rear ended them, knocking Eda and Amber forward. With pride, he rhetorically and angrily asked the women what they thought they were doing in front of the Enos family's number one driver. He rear-ended their car again a couple of times, making Amber realize that his Mercedes's engine was tuned. Managing to slightly push the women's car off the ground, J.J. planned on flipping their vehicle over, but Eda loudly warned them not to mess with her. Caught off guard by Eda swerving her car off the road, he immediately turned his Mercedes around and followed them down the adjacent slope. To his shock, the hill inclined upward at a steep angle, and he became shocked as the car crashed due to the Mercedes's suspension not being able to handle hilly terrain. Needham asked J.J. if he saw what the women looked like, and he responded that there was one blond and one dark-haired woman. Yelling that he would not let the women exit the state alive, Needham ordered J.J. and the other two subordinates to mobilize all of their men in order to protect the Enos family's reputation.
Accordingly, using the description of the women, Needham's men tracked down Eda and Amber at a diner, noticing their Jeep parked outside. Inside the restaurant, seeing the women sit down, several Enos gangsters blocked their table. Glaring at Eda, one man informed her that he and his friends were from the Mercedes-Benz that she made fun of. Ordering her to get up, he threatened that he would make her pay for insulting the Enos family. Immediately, Eda threw hot coffee in his face and insulted him as a wannabe gangster, warning the other men that she was willing to fight all of them. In response, another man grabbed her by the shirt, but she elbowed him in the face. As Eda continued punching them, Amber tried to dissuade her but lazily decided not to interfere. A blond gangster grabbed Amber, sternly telling her that they had business with her too. She pepper sprayed him in the face, getting up and insulting his bad breath. Outside, Eda kicked the first attacker to the ground and sarcastically asked him if he was still going to give her payback. In front of her, Needham and his men surrounded her and displayed their firearms, with the former declaring that she was done messing with his group. Amber came out and tried to help her, but she was immediately restrained by another gangster.
Eda turned around and worried about her, but one of the men kicked her in the head for looking away, disorienting her. Looking at her body, the man threatened to rape her and asked Needham if he could do so, but the enforcer ordered him to wait until they returned to their office. Suddenly, a Ford Fairlane convertible barged through and rammed into the thug, barely missing Eda since she moved her legs out of the way in time. Standing on top of his car with a gun in each hand, Burt Gummer insulted the Enos family and angrily asked them if they were messing with a young woman again. Noting that he saw them commit sins, he proclaimed that he would stop them. Annoyed, Needham told him to leave because the fight was none of his business, but Gummer retorted that he could not be told what to do and shot at them, prompting the gangsters to fire back. When the men heard him run out of bullets, they prepared to kill him, but Gummer pulled out an M60E3 machine gun and began unloading on them, forcing them to take cover. As the men hid, one of the gangsters heard the prepper claim that his daughter Angela was still alive because Gummer believed that Eda was the resurrected Angela.[3]
At the Enos family mansion, Needham and his men reconvened with the wheelchaired Enos II, who was in disbelief at Angela being alive. Pointing to the man behind him, Needham claimed that he heard Gummer shout Angela's name, surprising Enos. Nervously speaking, Needham tried to persuade him about her presence by saying that Gummer was the one who was certain about it, adding that he and his men would have seen her if they could. Shaking in anger upon hearing the testimony, Enos cursed Angela for toying with his heart. Though Needham tried to console him, he ordered him to gather everyone in the organization to finally settle things with the Gummer family, deducing that the only place Angela would go to was the Gummer cabin. Accordingly, Needham hired several professional hitmen to aid in their attack, as he used Angela's presence as an excuse to convince Enos II to take on Gummer. All of the gangsters and mercenaries then traveled to an Enos family warehouse, where several men unloaded boxes of firearms while Enos II asked Needham if everything was ready.
Whispering to him, Needham confirmed but specified that it was tough due to time. Enos II noted the great number of unfamiliar faces, prompting Needham to explain that he figured he would hire a bunch of men since they were going to take down Gummer of all people. Looking at the hired gunmen, he assured Enos II that the various mercenaries, mafia gunmen, and former military guys were all well-known in their own right. Commending Needham for his thoroughness, Enos II then addressed the men, asking them if everyone had a weapon. He advised them not to forget their ammunition, shouting that there was no such thing as too much ammo. Exclaiming that they would take on their old enemy of ten years, Enos II proudly stated that they would storm the house of the "bastard prepper," causing the men to enthusiastically cheer. Before getting into the backseat with Enos, Needham informed his men that their targets were Burt Gummer and his daughter Angela, encouraging them to erase them and their cabin from existence. Subsequently, J.J. led the pack of cars, and Needham and Enos II fanatically agreed that they would settle the long-standing feud.[2]
Soon, in the woodlands, as the Enos family gangsters drove to the property, Enos II told all of his men to listen up. He offered $5,000 to whoever could kill Gummer but warned them not to kill Angela, adding that whoever could bring her to him alive would receive $10,000, exciting the men. Hearing the offer, one gangster sped his car past a different car with mafia gunmen, showing them the middle finger and warning them to stay back since he wanted the bonus. Whereas the hired driver was slightly annoyed, his accomplice smugly advised him to let the short-minded gangster speed ahead. Ahead of them, the two Enos gangsters sped ahead and professed their readiness to kill Gummer for the $5,000 reward. On the road, their car ran over a tripwire, triggering a mine to explode, blowing their car into the air and killing them.
While the gangsters went ahead in spite of the one explosion, Needham, Enos II and J.J. stayed outside the property. Needham called Crocker on his radio to inform him that his men were attacking the cabin, promising that he would fulfill his end of their deal. Surrounding Gummer's cabin, several Enos family gangsters began opening fire on the front, forcing Eda and Gummer to take cover from the barrage of bullets. One of the gunmen taunted Gummer by joking that he would mince up his body and feed it to the crocodiles at the family's mansion. Hearing them, Eda shot at them and retorted that they were the ones who would become mincemeat. When Gummer shot at them with his shotgun, the Enos gangsters yelled that they would be glad to kill him and get the $5,000 bonus. To the gunmen's surprise, Gummer detonated one explosive nearby, killing a few of them. Smirking, Gummer proposed using more explosives, detonating more bombs that send a couple other gunmen flying. In response, another Enos family gangster ordered his men to rush into the cabin. When the men try to charge the place, Eda shot at them and killed two men in the process. Seeing the men get annihilated, one of the hired mercenaries suggested to his fellow freelancers that they go around the cabin instead of attacking the front.
At the same time, a submachine gun-wielding gangster jumped through the window, but Gummer greeted the man with his shotgun, shooting the invader in the chest. Immediately, two more gangsters barged through the front door, prompting Eda to shoot at them while covering Gummer. Although she killed one man, she ran out of bullets, dismaying her. As the surviving gangster bragged that she was out of bullets, Gummer shot the man in his abdomen, knocking him down. As Gummer and Eda began reloading, several men shot through the window again, causing Gummer to use his detonator once more, blowing up more men outside. Elsewhere, just outside the forest property, Needham and Enos II observed from a distance, but the latter was impatient about the fighting and wondered what Needham's hired gunmen were doing. Assuring him that the mercenaries were professionals, Needham claimed that the men were just getting started.
Near the cabin, a newsboy-capped mercenary cursed Gummer, also wondering how much ammunition he even possessed. His associate asked what they would do, so the mercenaries decided that they would wait to find the two targets and attack them by surprise. Hiding behind some trees, one gangster yelled at two fellow gangsters to not be cowardly, reminding them that they could earn a lot of money given the reward for Gummer. Running toward the cabin, the three men agreed to attack from three different directions. Accordingly, one man pointed his rifle through the window while the other two men charged inside, but they only saw a dead body. Immediately, a smoke round went off next to the body, surprising the men. Hanging upside down from the second floor's staircase, Eda shot at the men, hitting one of them and forcing the gunman outside to duck. The second man avoided her gunfire and tried to shoot at her, but she quickly shot and killed him as well. The third gunman prepared to kill her, but Eda spotted him and shot him just as he was about to pull the trigger, knocking him back and killing him.
After Eda and Gummer used an escape tunnel to flee the burning cabin, they came across Amber and Crocker, the latter of whom was planning to kill the prepper per Needham's deal. Before Crocker could catch Gummer off guard, the four were interrupted by the remaining mercenaries shooting at them. Meanwhile, on the road, Needham informed Enos II and J.J. that he received a call about Gummer and the others fleeing to the other side of the cabin. Getting into the car, he ordered J.J. to turn the car around so that they could hunt down their enemies. Subsequently, J.J. slammed the gas pedal and began driving onto the property. As Eda began wrestling with a female mercenary, Crocker pulled out his revolver since Gummer turned his back to him while trying to help Eda. Smirking, the deputy sheriff shot him at point-blank range in the back.[4]
To Crocker's surprise, Gummer was unharmed thanks to his bulletproof vest, and the prepper immediately grabbed the deputy sheriff's neck and slammed him against a tree. Gummer angrily asked him if he was an Enos family lackey, but Crocker scoffed at the notion, claiming that he would never work for the weak Enos II. Behind the prepper, a male mercenary tried to attack him, but he sensed the man's presence and pushed Crocker against the tree, knocking him out. As Gummer cracked the mercenary's neck and killed him, J.J. spotted him, so he drove into the large man, knocking him unconscious onto the ground. Needham then tied Gummer's hands behind his back and placed him on his back on the ground. Being guided out of the car, Enos II kicked Gummer and ordered the "hulk bastard" to wake up. Commenting that it had been a while, Enos II asked Gummer where Angela was. Becoming excited, Gummer answered that he still could not believe that his daughter had come back, claiming that she had likely already created a bloodbath out of his mercenaries. He even added that it was almost like a dream because his daughter had come back to life after being killed by the Enos family. Unknown to them, Eda had indeed shot and killed the remaining two assassins who failed to injure her.
Yelling at him, Enos II repeated that Angela was not dead because she ran away after stealing his family's money and breaking his heart. Not listening to a word, Gummer thanked God for bringing his daughter back. Furious with his stubbornness, Enos II declared that he was done for. Standing next to Enos II and pulling out his pistol, Needham stared down at Gummer and remarked that their long-time feud was finally over. As the wheelchaired man said that all that they had to do was find Angela, Needham moved his pistol toward him and shot Enos II in the head, killing him. Laughing at his dead boss, Needham joked that the young man did not see that coming. He shouted that he would not let a good-for-nothing and gutless person like him take over the family that he built with his predecessor while they both drank muddy water. Needham then gloated that from then on, he and Crocker would run things smoothly.
Suddenly, Gummer noted that he was the mastermind all along, surprising the gangster. The prepper began to wriggle back and forth and, quickly getting up, broke free of his hand binds. As Gummer charged him and grabbed his collar and arm, Needham cursed the former's family for being the bane of his problems. To Needham's shock, Gummer lifted his whole body above his shoulders. Trying to break free, the irate gangster warned Gummer to let go of him, shooting a couple of bullets near his feet in the process. Using all his strength, the prepper threw Needham against an adjacent tree, injuring him and knocking him unconscious. Afterward, Gummer happily cheered over the unconscious Needham with victorious roars, and he still believed that Eda was his resurrected daughter.[1] It is unknown if Needham and Crocker, surviving but with the former's forces diminished, are still feuding with Burt Gummer.
