Appearance[]
Gardner was a Caucasian adult man with short light-brown hair and a full-face beard. He wore a red cap, a tactical vest, a light-red pink T-shirt and blue jeans. Like other Grey Fox soldiers, he carried a Colt M4A1 rifle for a weapon.
History[]
El Baile de la muerte / Roberta's Blood Trail[]
Gardner participated in Grey Fox's mission in Barinas, Venezuela to kill the leader of the political party MVR. After Shane Caxton gave the order to detonate the bomb that was planted near the leader's podium, Gardner sat in a car and pulled out the antenna on his radio transmitter and then detonated the controlled explosion, killing the MVR leader as well as accidentally killing Diego Lovelace.[1]
Sometime later, Gardner and the rest of Grey Fox got their next mission to capture Shue Yan in the Golden Triangle. They arrived in Roanapur as a starting point, and Gardner accompanied Caxton's team in his motel room as they planned to travel northward. When Bugsy Lance's men attempted to enter Team Alpha's room, Wright and Gardner used silencers on their rifles and fired a hail of bullets through the door, killing the men. At that point, Caxton ordered the detonation of some Claymore mines to prepare an escape to the rooftops. When they got onto the rooftops, Roberta began sniping at them, so Caxton ordered Wright and Horner to engage in suppressive fire. After Gardner and the other troops got onto an adjacent building's rooftop, the soldiers used suppressive fire to help Wright, Horner and the remaining troops escape Roberta's sniping range. Later that night, Grey Fox and the others soon took cover in an empty building while trying to escape the city.[2]
After Horner saved Garcia Lovelace's life, Gardner stayed with Caxton's team to watch the boy until they could reconvene with the main squad. Garcia noticed that the troops were the same exact people responsible for killing Diego Lovelace, making him grab a nearby pistol on the ground. Horner quickly disarmed the child, with Gardner and the others surprised by the boy's action. In sadness, Garcia told them that he knew they were in Barinas, Venezuela and killed his father. When Caxton offered his own pistol to the boy, Gardner and the soldiers pointed their rifles at Garcia and demanded Caxton to take his gun back, but Caxton ordered him and the other soldiers to stand down. Although Garcia decided that he could not go through with taking revenge on Caxton, Roberta jumped down to attack Caxton with her guns, but the troops shot back. Garcia got up and told the troops not to kill her since her mental state was due to Grey Fox's assassination of his father. Soon, Gardner and the Grey Fox soldiers got the Vysotniki's protection to get safe passage out of Roanapur, soon boarding Dutch's boat.[3]
Of the five teams used to surveil the jungle to find Shue Yan, Gardner went with Team Echo, the first team to enter the jungle. While Roberta began her attack in the jungle after taunting Team Alpha in the opium fields, Wright took off his thermal goggles, and he and Gardner soon found Shue Yan tied up with a bomb nearby. As Wright reported seeing a figure in the distance, Roberta fired a flechette round at him, piercing Wright's chest and killing him. Frightened, Gardner reported Wright's murder to Team Alpha, warning everyone that Roberta was using flechette rounds with a musket. As Roberta escalated her attacks, Gardner remarked that it was hard to escape the jungle with all the tripwires that Roberta laid around the area. While Gardner waited for Team Alpha to arrive to provide them cover, Roberta killed the remaining members of Team Echo and lastly charged toward Gardner, killing him by stabbing him in the throat with her bayonet.[4]
