Greenback Jane Part 3, also called Chapter 40, is the forty-first chapter of the Black Lagoon manga. It was originally released in January 2006.
Summary[]
After shooting Quentin the Tiger, Eda tells the bounty hunters that $1,000 is chump change and she will make money with her million dollar job. Immediately, Revy and Eda begin shooting at the bounty hunters as Rock drives the car out of the alley. Revy orders the panicking Rock to head to the ocean, and they successfully flee. Arriving on the scene, Shenhua learns from the mercenaries that the women from the Lagoon Company and Rip-Off Church are now involved in protecting their bounty head Jane. Also arriving, Russell berates the mercenaries for standing around, and Shenhua tells him that they now need $30,000 for the job, angering him since there are only two extra enemies. Annoyed by his criticism, Shenhua throws her corded liuyedao next to him, telling him that he is in Roanapur and not Florida.
She adds that the two women are not mere gang bangers and advises Russell to hire someone else if he will not pay them. In response, Russell warns her that she better be a good assassin, and she tells him to call Lobos to confirm their deal, then commenting to herself that the women are in a hurry and will be only going to one place. At the Lagoon Company dry dock on the building's second floor, Eda complains that she was not told about the boat being gone. As Rock elaborates that they got a rush job earlier, Eda asks for the Ardbeg Provenance alcohol, but Revy threatens that she will injure her if she drinks it since it is Dutch's stock. Rock then offers Eda some Jim Beam, and Revy radios to Dutch that they have weapons to hold themselves down in the meantime.
Eda then tells Revy that she will contact Isaac about their cargo since the Rip-Off Church will pay for them, also wondering where Jane is. Rock answers that the girl locked herself in the storage room closet an hour ago. Typing on her laptop, Jane is struggling to access her online vault where the money plates are, gloomily saying that she wishes Theo was still alive. Suddenly, the lights go out, prompting Revy and Eda to prepare their pistols and hide. Peeking out the blinds, Eda notes the bounty hunters walking up the stairs, and seconds later a few barge down the door. To the men's misfortune, Revy and Eda shoot the two men dead. As they begin shooting other mercenaries, Revy orders Rock to flee with the girl. When he tries to take the backdoor, a chainsaw bursts through, and Sawyer the Cleaner tries to cut them apart. Rock tells the terrified Jane that he does not have a gun, and he quickly grabs a metal shelf as a makeshift shield against the chainsaw.
Against his advice, Jane runs to the door that leads to the dock, and downstairs she is greeted by a standing Claude "Torch" Weaver, who asks her if she likes barbecues as he uses his flamethrower lighter to scare her away. Seeing Rock in trouble, Revy tells him to get out the way as she shoots at Sawyer, forcing her to leave the room. Annoyed by the gunfire from various directions, Eda asks Revy if she has any good weapons. On Revy's order, Jane kicks a box to Eda, who opens it to happily see an ARWEN 37 grenade launcher. Pointing the launcher outside the window, Eda launches several grenades at the various bounty hunters, scaring them off. As Rock takes Jane to the roof and Revy fires at Sawyer, Eda warns Revy to duck. Immediately, a corded sword goes through the window and slightly cuts Revy, who correctly guesses that Shenhua is helping the bounty hunters.
