History[]
El Baile de la muerte / Roberta's Blood Trail[]
In "El Baile de la muerte," Gustavo went to the Yellow Flag on behalf of Abrego to ask Revy about the location of Roberta. When Revy asked about the Manisarera Cartel, Gustavo clarified that the Manisarera and Colombian Cartels were two different groups who both hated Roberta. While Revy insulted Gustavo and described Roberta's appearance and outfit, a girl in a maid costume entered the bar, but she was actually Fabiola Iglesias,[1] who Gustavo realized held the key to finding Roberta via Garcia Lovelace. When he calmly threatened her to surrender so that they could travel to Sankan Palace Hotel together and specified that he would not torture a child for the information, Iglesias disarmed the thug behind her by kicking him in the testicles with a knife-toed shoe, prompting the Colombians to point their guns at her. Bao demanded them to take the fight outside, but Gustavo pointed his own pistol at Bao to dissuade him.
Consequently, Iglesias started a gunfight with all the men in the bar when Revy purposefully dropped a bottle of Bacardi. Panicking at Iglesias's skills, Gustavo used Bao's telephone to urge one of his men to get Abrego on the line since another maid was in town.[2] When Gustavo used the phone again to call for reinforcements to tear apart the bar with machine guns, Bao wrestled with him over control of the phone to prevent Gustavo inciting even more damage to his bar. As Gustavo's men tore the bar apart with a machine gun, Fabiola rebuffed their attack to Gustavo's surprise.[3] Furious, Gustavo pointed his pistol at the young girl, but Revy immediately pointed her pistol at his head in turn, forcing him to retreat.[4]
With Abrego, he later attended the crime lord summit hosted by Mister Chang at The Golden Swingin Night Club to discuss how the crime syndicates should deal with Roberta and the U.S. Army's presence in Roanapur. When Chang asked them about their course of action, Gustavo spoke in Spanish to Abrego and asked what they should say since they had orders from their jefe. Ronnie told them to speak in English, and Abrego clarified that he and Gustavo were not hiding anything and relayed to everyone his orders from the top about how he needed to kill Roberta to stabilize the Colombian Cartel's relations with FARC.[5]
After the meeting at the Colombians' front company, Gustavo picked up the phone to hear from Boss Pasturia in Colombia. Accordingly, Gustavo gave the phone to his boss Abrego, and he stood by as Pasturia ordered Abrego to not let the FARC brigade find out about the U.S. Army's presence or else their whole cartel would be in trouble if the FARC soldiers killed even one U.S. soldier.[6] Some time later, Gustavo listened to Abrego speaking with Alberto Camarasa on the phone since Abrego did not tell the latter about the U.S. Army being Roberta's enemy. Once Alberto hung up and decided to defy Abrego's recommendation to stay away from the American troops, Abrego kicked the table in a fit of rage and frustration. Disappointed, Gustavo pulled out his gun, implying that he purged Abrego for his failure.[7]
L'homme sombre[]
After Abrego's death, Gustavo took over his position in Roanapur's crime leadership Council. When another crime lord summit was hosted concerning recent murders in the city, Chang stated that Gustavo could not attend the meeting since he traveled back to South America to aid the Colombians in pushing back the Nuevo Laredo Cartel as well as fighting the U.S. government's war on drugs that continued to weaken the Colombian Cartel.[8]
