Ives (アイヴス Aivusu) was a Russian criminal who raided drug dealers' hideouts to steal their money. He primarily worked with two unnamed henchmen and let Vasili Skachkov do a job with him in exchange for part of the share. After Vasili took more money than given to him and changed his identity, Ives wanted revenge and plotted a ransom kidnapping to get the money back.

Ives was an older Russian man with a broad build, pale skin, short blond hair, and a facial scar running from the top left of his nose to his left temple. He wore a white bulletproof vest and all black bulletproof clothing, including a suit jacket, pants, and gloves.
Eda Initial Stage history[]
Ives worked with two henchmen to raid drug dealers' hideouts to kill them and steal their money. When Vasili Skachkov had insufficient money to continue his livelihood after defecting from the USSR in 1985, he sought out Ives's help. Accordingly, the criminal allowed him to do one job with them and accepted Vasili's request that it would be a one-time job. After the four men completed one job, Ives distributed the cash to the other three but kept the highest share for himself. Requiring more money, Vasili took some of his money because of the imbalance in pay and disappeared using his new identity, infuriating Ives.[1]
The Spy Who Came in from Cold[]
In the early 1990s, Ives discovered Vasili's new identity as Maynard Sears and his life in Baltimore, Maryland, including his residence, business and his new family. Wanting revenge, he planned a ransom kidnapping in which he would demand $100,000 from Vasili in exchange for returning his daughter Lottie. After the kidnapping was to occur, he intended on fleeing to the Caribbean Sea to disappear.[2] On the day the plan was to be executed, Ives promised to reconvene with his two henchmen at a later time after they achieved their objective. Per his plan, the two henchmen waited outside the Sears residence and successfully abducted the girl when she returned home from school. As they left, they jokingly told her mother to tell "Vasili" they said hello, warning her not to call the police.[3]
Returning to their motel with the girl, the two men then called Maynard sometime after he arrived at his house. They relayed to him that he needed to acquire $100,000 on the very same day and bring it to Ives at Patterson Park at midnight or else they would kill Lottie. Several minutes before Ives came to the area, Lottie freed herself by tricking one of her captors while he was high on cocaine and the other henchman was getting food for them at the diner. At the same time, Yevdokiya Skachkova, Maynard's first daughter from his previous marriage, showed up and abetted the girl's escape.[1] However, the other henchman returned and saw them driving toward him by pure chance, so he shot at Yevdokiya. In the brief firefight, the woman managed to injure the henchman just as Ives arrived at the scene. When the women attempted to flee in his direction, the gangster stopped his car on the street in front of them to block their path. Stepping out of the vehicle, he glared at them but only stood still, prompting Yevdokiya to bring Lottie with her elsewhere in the neighborhood. Running to his boss, the bearded henchman asked him why he let the women flee. Annoyed, Ives grabbed him by the collar and chastised him for not being able to watch a child and using drugs while doing so.
The henchman reminded him that he was the one who stood by in the first place, causing Ives to threaten to dispose of him if he continued talking back to him. Traveling through the neighborhood, he found Yevdokiya while hearing her talk to Lottie behind a wooden fence. Ambushing them, Ives kicked his foot through and knocked the Russian woman onto the ground. As he walked toward her, Yevdokiya kicked her left foot at his head, but he grabbed it. She then swung her right leg toward him and freed herself. She punched him in the face and kicked him in the abdomen but to her surprise, he grabbed her foot. Smirking, Ives commended her skills but retorted that hers did not match his own. He thrust her onto the ground and grabbed her hair to throw her against the fence, injuring and incapacitating her. Lottie called for her, but Ives ignored the girl as he wondered if Yevdokiya was the accomplice of "Vasili." That night, before going to Patterson Park, he put the tied-up woman in the trunk of his 1972 Chevrolet and taunted that he promised that he would "take good care of [her]" once he was finished. Ordering his men to prepare for departure, Ives declared that they would get the $100,000 and see the Caribbean Sea in no time.[2]
At midnight, the three men waited with Lottie at the park, where Maynard soon showed up with a duffel bag. Greeting Maynard as "Vasili," Ives joked that he returned to retrieve the money taken from him. Maynard reminded him that their partnership was a one-time thing and he took the money because Ives did not split it evenly between them in the first place. Leaning toward Lottie and glaring at her father, Ives emphasized that he needed to give back the money and then his daughter would be returned. When he intimidated Lottie by whispering the threat near her ear, Maynard cursed him and showed the duffel bag, claiming he had the money and wanted his daughter back. Waving his hand to come forth, Ives ordered him to put the bag of $100,000 down and take ten steps back. Although Maynard said that he wanted to exchange at the same time, the gangster warned him that he was in no position to bargain and ordered him to do as he commanded.
Once Maynard followed the instructions, one of henchman examined the duffel bag's contents and confirmed that the money was genuine. Rejecting the idea of counting it right away, Ives asked him to bring the money to him. As the henchman walked to them, Eda shot him above the right knee, surprising Ives. As he frantically wondered if the shot was from an accomplice of Maynard's, Lottie quickly kicked the bearded henchman in the groin while Maynard struggled with the boss over the duffel bag. Maynard kicked him away and knocked him back. Unfazed, he got up and seconds after Maynard shot the bearded henchman, shot his ex-partner in the shoulder in turn. Pointing his pistol at both of them, Ives declared that he would send both the parent and child to the afterlife. Before he could kill them, Yevdokiya, who freed herself earlier, ran toward him and warned Ives to leave her "prey" alone. Though she shot him several times in the right arm, nothing pierced his bulletproof suit. The two briefly exchanged gunfire until Yevdokiya moved faster and shot him in his exposed abdomen, knocking him onto the ground.[4]
Because his vest was also bulletproof, Ives remained mostly unharmed. As he laid on the ground, he listened to Yevdokiya confront Maynard about abandoning her when she was a child, realizing that she was his daughter. Getting up, he sneaked behind her and put her in a headlock before she could react. He ordered Maynard to toss the duffel bag of money to him or else he would break Yevdokiya's neck. Glaring at him, Ives licked her neck and ask her father if he even cared about the daughter he left behind in his former country. Immediately tossing the duffel bag to him, Maynard urged him to let go of his first daughter. Surprised, Yevdokiya called for her "dad" but quickly had her gun taken from her. Pointing the gun to her head, Ives joked that it made him cry to see that Maynard still had feelings for her. Pushing Yevdokiya away, he shot around her feet and grabbed the duffel bag. As Ives tried to run away, Eda shot him in the head at close range, instantly killing him. In the end, Maynard survived being shot while Yevdokiya returned to the Russian Federation.[5]
