The dry dock and building in full view

The Lagoon Company dry dock (ラグーン商会の乾ドック Ragūn shōkai no kan dokku) is a dry dock used by the Lagoon Company to dock their boat Black Lagoon as well as an extra place for storing goods like shipments and weapons. It is located at the Roanapur Wharf. The dry dock building serves as one of two bases for the Lagoon Company, the other being the Lagoon Company office.

Area features

The dry dock building is a two-floored building with its walls and roof made of corrugated metal. The first floor is mostly the dry dock area where the water vessel and other storage items are stationed under roof cover. Inside the dock area, there is a staircase leading to the second floor's backdoor. Likewise, there is another staircase leading to the entrance door on the other side near the city streets. On the second floor, there are two green couches, a rectangular coffee table, a few lockers, a shelf with Dutch's alcohol, a shelf-adjacent table with radio communication equipment, and a small area with Benny's desk, computer, and a shelf with electronic equipment.

Black Lagoon

After Revy abducted Rock during a pirating job, Black Lagoon arrived in Roanapur and docked at the dry dock. As the three Lagoon Company members disembarked, Dutch told Rock that he could come with them to the Yellow Flag, confusing him since he thought that he was a hostage. Benny joked to Rock that they were leaving, prompting Rock to tell him to wait up so that he could accompany them.

Rasta Blasta

Once receiving Garcia Lovelace from a Panamanian vessel, Black Lagoon returned to Roanapur and docked at the dry dock. As she disembarked, the impatient Revy smacked Garcia on the back of his head and ordered him to walk faster. When Dutch and Rock questioned her beating of Garcia, she smacked the child again. At that point, the four pirates left the dock and drove to the Yellow Flag to deliver Garcia to the Manisarera Cartel.

While Rock drove the three women to the dry dock, Eda gave Revy her payment in advance for their new job to safely escort Jane out of Roanapur due to the Nuevo Laredo Cartel putting a bounty on the counterfeiter's head. On the way, Rock informed Eda that the Black Lagoon was not docked since Benny and Dutch were out on a delivery job, adding that the nun did not tell him that they would need the boat. Arriving at the dry dock, Eda became frustrated upon confirming the boat was not docked, so the four went into the dock building's second floor. Inside, Jane locked herself in the closet to continue her work, but she could not access the money printing plate data managed by Theo. Revy contacted Dutch via radio to convince him to abandon their current delivery job, and the bored Eda sat on the couch wanting some of Dutch's stock of alcohol. To her dismay, she instead got a glass of Jim Beam from Rock. Knowing that the Nuevo Laredo Cartel had hired several bounty hunters to catch Jane, Revy and Eda prepared for an attack.

Outside, the first set of bounty hunters broke down the second floor's door by shooting inside. As two men stepped inside, Revy and Eda pointed their pistols at the men, shooting and killing them. Finding out that there were way more bounty hunters, the women became surrounded on all sides as Jane fearfully exited the closet upon hearing the gunfire. In the anime only, the bounty hunters used Benny's car as a shield, and Revy shot at the car but made the gas tank leak, resulting in an explosion that tossed the car upside down. Improvising quickly, Revy ordered Rock to escape with Jane, so the Japanese man grabbed Jane's wrist and guided her to the back door. To their fright, a chainsaw blade burst through the door, cutting it in two. Cornering the terrified Jane and Rock, Sawyer the Cleaner walked closer but had to back off since Revy shot at her to save the two. After Sawyer used her chainsaw as a shield to back away and leave the second floor, Jane became so scared that she decided to flee on her own against Rock's advice. Going down into the dry dock area, Jane's path was blocked by Claude "Torch" Weaver at the bottom of the stairs.

Frozen in fear, Jane politely asked Claude if he would let her pass, but he merely smiled and used his flamethrower, forcing Jane to re-enter the second floor. As the bullets continued raining against the second floor, Revy yelled to the crouching Jane to kick the crate near her to Eda. Glad with the contents of the crate, Eda used the ARWEN-37 launcher to disperse a great deal of the bounty hunters outside. Despite the small victory, the group saw smoke from the back door as a result of Claude setting fire to the dock to flush them out. After Rock took Jane to the roof on Revy's advice, Shenhua revealed herself by throwing her corded sword into the window, slightly injuring Revy and forcing her and Eda to take cover. While Revy feigned bantering with Shenhua, she asked Eda to make a clean shot once Revy forced Shenhua off the exterior duct. The Taiwanese assassin was forced to run near the window when Revy fired bullets through the wall, and Eda shot through the window and no longer saw Shenhua, thinking she made the shot.

As Eda walked toward the window, Shenhua wrapped her sword's cord around Eda's neck, trapping her. The Taiwanese freelancer then ordered Sawyer to pursue Jane on the roof, threatening Revy that she would kill Eda if she tried anything suspicious. Revy gave a pistol to Eda and pretended to leave, with Shenhua remarking that she knew Eda was lying. When the nun smirkingly stated that Shenhua was the real fool, Shenhua turned around and saw Revy breaking through the window, so she instinctively injured Revy with several throwing knives before she could shoot. Although Revy got injured, Eda landed several shots on Shenhua, toppling her off the duct onto the ground. Sawyer subsequently confronted Rock and Jane as they had nowhere to escape from the rooftop, and the cleaner remarked that she would have fun cutting both of them up. At that point, the roof shook slightly from the fire below, making Sawyer drop her handheld electrolarynx. Without her electrolarynx, Sawyer had an anxiety attack and threw the chainsaw at Rock and Jane, but they dodged it and then saw Sawyer curl into a ball.

Having seen the dry dock on fire as Benny piloted the Black Lagoon toward land, Dutch got annoyed but prepared his ARWEN launcher and ordered Benny to do a 180 degree turn at the dock on his command. Eda and Revy then climbed onto the roof after the latter bandaged up her own arm. At that point, Revy remarked that the Black Lagoon was in view, but the roof began to totally collapse due to the arson. As Rock slid off the roof, he kicked Jane out of the way of a stray brace. Standing proudly on a nearby rooftop, Lotton the Wizard made a grandiose entrance, so Revy simply shot him in the chest during his speech. After a hard fall to the ground, Revy, Rock and co. got up from the debris and ran to a nearby pier while Dutch provided them cover using smoke rounds on the remaining bounty hunters. Although the four jumped onto the Black Lagoon's deck, a few bounty hunters like Russell and Claude got on board too, leaving the dry dock to conclude their battle. Getting up unharmed thanks to his bulletproof vest, Lotton went out of his way to bring Shenhua and Sawyer to a hospital.

El Baile de la muerte / Roberta's Blood Trail

In a brief flashback, Revy and Dutch were carrying out a deal at the dock, with Dutch inspecting the clients' money whereas Revy waited nearby to act as security. Once Rock got confirmation from Eda that the Rip-Off Church would tip off the NSA about the Lagoon Company being able to provide an escort to Grey Fox to complete the latter's mission, Rock called Benny, who was using his computer on the dry dock second floor. Rock told Benny that he wanted to speak with Dutch, who was already ambivalent about Rock's decision to help Garcia Lovelace and Fabiola Iglesias. Dutch himself asked for the phone knowing that it was Rock. Before giving the phone to his boss, Benny admitted to Rock that he liked him as a colleague and did not want to lose him. Rock relayed his plan to Dutch, who rejected it and was irritated with Rock disobeying him, but he could not dissuade the ex-salaryman.

A minute later, the two sailors received a phone call from Mister Chang, learning that he also wanted Rock's job to go through and offered pay to Dutch. Seeing that Mister Chang had it all planned for them, Dutch agreed. The next dawn, the four Lagoon Company sailors allowed Garcia, Fabiola, and the U.S. soldiers to embark their boat, leaving the dry dock to sail to the Golden Triangle region. In the anime, months after the mission, Rock was hanging out on the deck of Black Lagoon just outside the dock. When Dutch came by, he told him that the duffel bag of money next to him was a bonus from Chang for completing their job. Rock lamented that nothing had changed in Roanapur despite his plan succeeding, causing Dutch to comment that money and guns determined something's worth. Smoking a cigarette, Rock thought that somewhere in the world, someone outdid him, gloomily concluding that he could not save anyone. Later, Revy visited him and said that he would become a corpse if he continued to look at Roanapur with life in his eyes. Hesitant to complete his finger gun gesture at the city, Rock responded that he came close to the darkness but was not ready for it yet.

The Wired Red Wild Card

At the dry dock, Benny and Jane were packing up several items onto the Black Lagoon since Benny had time off and Jane hired the Lagoon Company to ship her around the sea so that she could spend time with Benny after she made Feng Yifei her patsy. Arriving at the dock in Benny's car, Revy saw them and badmouthed Jane's sexual desires, but Benny assured Revy that Jane was a good person despite her notable sexual appetite. When Jane joked to Revy that she would involve Rock in an orgy, Revy grabbed her by the shirt and told her that she could show her things that would surprise even Jane, throwing her back. After the two lovebirds boarded the Black Lagoon, Revy left the dock to accompany Rock throughout town.

L'homme sombre

After capturing the incapacitated Le Majeur, Revy, Rock and Shenhua brought her to the dry dock building and tied the attacker to a chair after bandaging her left eye. Revy asked Rock if they should have brought her to Doctor Hartland first to treat her eye, but he responded that she still had several questions to answer. Upon waking up, Majeur's expression turned resentful, and Revy and Rock sat down, with the latter asking her what the significance was concerning the date and names that she mentioned to others. As she refused to cooperate, Rock lighted a cigarette for himself and reminded Majeur that she was a hostage and that they could be friends in order to clean up her mess. Angered, Majeur replied that the Réseau would not stop chasing down "La Mouche" and would not forget about Antsirabe, surprising the amused Revy.

Upon hearing those terms, Rock said that he had to go out for a bit, advising Revy to be gentle with Majeur. A little bit after Rock had left, Shenhua herself was hungry and decided that she would leave too, asking the pirate what she wanted for a meal, so Revy requested pad thai and a Singha. As Shenhua left, Revy started smoking a cigarette and asked Majeur what she wanted to do. Still resentful, Majeur replied that she did not care since she was a hostage, but Revy stated that unlike the various crime syndicates in town, the Lagoon Company did not care whether she lived or died. She even offered her a cigarette, but Majeur rejected it on the basis that smoking would slow her down. Smiling, the pirate repeated that she would take her to a doctor for her excruciating pain if she talked, but Majeur retorted that the Réseau would hunt her down. Letting out a puff of smoke, she reminded the Frenchwoman that she knew her own comrade shot her, remarking that Majeur was still alive and could get revenge. Finally, Revy added that covering for her friends would not grant her an award, warning the assassin to decide soon.

Once Rock had returned to the dry dock after talking with Feng Yifei, Majeur had agreed to talk, so she received a burger from Shenhua. Biting into the burger, the Frenchwoman introduced herself and admitted that she worked for France's Service d'Action Civique. Recognizing the name, Rock told Revy that the group was a French militia meant to expand the French-Africa ideology, and Majeur confirmed that the militia had a unit called Les Cinq Doigts to which she belonged. The ex-salaryman asked her why her group hunted down Black men, and the Frenchwoman specified that they were after La Mouche, a tall man who was a former lieutenant colonel in the Burkinabè Army responsible for procuring and managing funds for the Antsirabe connection. Trying to piece the intel together, Rock informed Revy and Shenhua that La Mouche was connected to a failed coup in Burkina Faso whose survivors were trying to reestablish themselves. Because of this possibility, SAC wanted to eliminate the remaining survivors. Rock thanked Majeur for her information and promised to take her to Doctor Hartland to treat her eye, so the four accordingly left the dry dock together to prepare Rock's trap.

After Les Cinq Doigts' members were eliminated and the Council meeting concerning Majeur's fate finished, Dutch was on the dry dock's second floor listening to some Marvin Gaye music when Rock entered and joked about the music. Dutch asked Rock what he wanted, and the Japanese man answered that the plan went smoothly, making Dutch remark that the identity of La Mouche would be kept hidden. Rock then smilingly asked if the man in front of him was La Mouche, but Dutch got up and said he had to leave. While exiting the second floor, Dutch turned around and smiled back, saying to Rock that "La Mouche" would surely thank him if he was there, and he left.

New Girl in the Hood

After Revy had guided Le Majeur around Roanapur to show her things that she would need in the criminal world, she requested Rock to drive them back to the dry dock. Arriving at the Roanapur Wharf and with Rock parking the car outside the dry dock building, he jokingly wondered how Dutch would react to meeting Majeur due to the latter's previous affiliation with Les Cinq Doigts. Subsequently, Majeur briefly met Dutch and boarded the Black Lagoon to fulfill the latter's test.

Ballad of the Sinful Wizard

In the second light novel Ballad of the Sinful Wizard, after Shenhua, Sawyer, Revy and Rock helped Lotton and Tricia O'Sullivan flee from Sankan Palace Hotel, the Lagoon Company pirates brought the latter two to the dry dock building to await further orders from Mister Chang. While Tricia slept on the couch on the second floor, Lotton relaxed on the building rooftop and talked to Rock about his motivations for helping Tricia. The freelancer agreed to confide in the ex-salaryman about everything he had gone through, including his phone call with a CIA agent (which was Eda using a voice changer). Afterward, Rock came down from the ladder and informed Revy and Dutch that Lotton had agreed to cooperate if they followed his conditions. Dutch asked Rock if Lotton was working with the CIA, but Rock answered that Lotton had no idea who the person was on the other end, holding up the mobile phone. Smiling with an idea, Rock told Dutch that they could begin the hunting by luring out the enemy using the prepaid phone.

Recognizing Rock's look of contemplation, Dutch inquired about Lotton's particular conditions, with Rock elaborating that they needed to send someone to Pangkalpinang for a small purchase as well as requesting Dutch to contact Balalaika for Hotel Moscow's help. Although saying a few words in hesitation, Dutch stopped mid-sentence upon seeing Rock's face, assuring Rock that he would do his best to talk to Balalaika soldier-to-soldier. Subsequently, the ex-salaryman called Eda using the mobile phone that Lotton found in the chapel and bluffed a threat about killing Tricia if the agent did not bring them thousands of dollars. Later the next evening as the plan was successfully executed with Rock stealing a hitman's belongings to Eda's annoyance, Revy guarded Lotton and Tricia at the dry dock and told them that Mister Chang and the Hong Kong Triad were supposed to pick up the girl on behalf of the Fujianese crime syndicate Budaibang.

Revy glaringly told Tricia that her fate was not in her hands, but the latter continued to be infatuated with the freelancer. She even admitted that she wanted to run away with him, to which the pirate replied that they could try if they liked, reminding them that the Triad was already on their way. Bidding goodbye to Revy, Lotton exited the second floor and climbed a nearby derrick crane with Tricia. As several Triad cars arrived to the dry dock, Shadow Falcon arrived as well and climbed the derrick crane. Consequently, Lotton and Falcon began to fight each other, with the fight ending in a draw while Tricia happily left Roanapur with her Budaibang fiancé.

Gore Gore Girl history

Volume 2

In Volume 2 of Dismemberment Galore! The Gore Gore Girl, the Lagoon Company got a job to receive four containers of refrigerated corpses and needed Sawyer the Cleaner's corpse disposal services, so Dutch waited at the dry dock with Sawyer while Revy and Rock were on their way with the containers. After Dutch finished talking to his client on the phone, he told Sawyer that they would have to wait for a bit longer, reminding her that she did not have to stay. When his stomach grumbled, he asked her if she wanted to get some food delivery. Pulling out her basket, Sawyer showed him various kitchenware and food like scones, shortbread, and a thermos of tea. He tried the tea and complimented it, and he enjoyed her sandwiches, admitting that he was genuinely impressed with her homey food. When Sawyer pulled out a teddy bear and showed it to Dutch, he only puffed some smoke in response, saddening Sawyer. He responded that they should act businesslike and reminded her that the dock was once set on fire during her attack.

Scratching his neck, he joked that he could forget about the incident since her tea was delicious in order to cheer her up. Seeing that Sawyer was still sad and hugging her bear, Dutch gave up and sat back down to light another cigarette. Looking at his watch, he saw that the sailors were late and hoped that they arrived soon. Hearing a crash outside the dock, Dutch looked out the blinds and saw the car, sighing since there were four containers of frozen corpses scattered all over the place. Angrily exiting the car, Revy yelled to Dutch about other groups trying to steal their goods, and he wished that she would calm down. Looking back at Sawyer, he reminded her that disposal would be her responsibility, and she held her fingers up to negotiate the work. Surprised at her offer of 70/30 wherein he got the bigger half, Dutch remarked that the profit was a joke, but acknowledged that the job of "cleaning" was certainly different from his own end. Relaying to her that he understood, he stated that compensation balance was important, joking that he was at least assigned 70 instead of 80 percent.

Volume 9

During a storm, Dutch, Benny and Rock stayed inside the dock building to wait it out since they could not board their boat in the weather. Wanting to pass the time and cheer up his comrades, Dutch showed them a bottle of Macallan 30, awing the men. The captain explained that one of his clients gave the bottle to him, concluding that they could try the expensive drink. Before they could drink their glasses, Rock heard the tornado coming closer and wondered if they were in trouble. To the men's shock, a couple of crocodiles involuntarily crashed through the window and broke the bottle of Macallan 30, making all three pirates scream.
