Luak (ルアク Ruaku) was a pirate captain who often raided the coast and waters of nearby Thailand, desiring to take control of sea routes. Chen had hired him to take out the Lagoon Company after Dutch snubbed Chen's job offer.

Appearance[]

Luak was an adult Asian man with a skinny build, short black hair, tan skin, and a thin mustache. He wore a short-sleeved buttoned beige-pink shirt and black pants.

History[]

Luak had a fleet of six boats (including his own) which he and his team of pirates used to attack ships in the waters of Southeast Asia. For some time, Luak's business had been gradually declining. In one job in the mid-1990s, he and his team botched a raid which resulted in him being chased away by a Malaysian Navy battleship.[1]

Chase for ring-ding ships[]

Knowing about the botched raid and how Luak's business had been dwindling, Chen sought out Luak's help to kill the Lagoon Company. To lure Dutch out, Chen had given a trusted source of Dutch's, Donnie Yen, bogus information on a job to send the Lagoon Company to pick up a package from the Vietnamese military at Phú Quốc. Once Dutch took the job and the Lagoon pirates headed out to the sea, Chen was informed of their leave and he called Luak, promising that the latter would get a cut of the pay for shipments to Kalimantan if he succeeded.

As the Black Lagoon steered near an island, three of Luak's swift boats began chasing them, and then Luak and the remaining three boats pursued the PT boat once it passed the island. Contacting Dutch via radio, Luak remarked that it had been a while, but Dutch only warned him to leave. Still calm, Dutch retorted that Luak was truly an idiot, angering Luak enough to arrogantly proclaim that he and his crew would send the Black Lagoon to the bottom of the sea. When the front boats on each side attempted to riddle the PT boat with gunfire, Dutch managed to go backwards by greatly decelerating the Black Lagoon's speed, causing two of Luak's boats to engage in friendly fire, destroying each other. As Luak was furious, Dutch began speeding up the boat and let Revy take care of the counterattack. Subsequently, she single-handedly boarded three of the remaining swift boats, killing the crews and blowing the boats up with a grenade launcher.

Seeing his chances of winning diminishing, the frightened Luak decided to flee the scene, pushing his subordinate aside to grab the steering wheel. Turning around, Luak commented in frustration that Revy was a demon and tried to escape, but Revy nonchalantly fired a single grenade from afar which blew up his swift boat, killing him. As a result, Chen was infuriated with Luak for getting himself killed and tried to flee Roanapur, but the Chinese crime boss was soon killed by Balalaika and Hotel Moscow.[2]
