Rasta Blasta Part 1, also called Chapter 2, is the third chapter of the Black Lagoon manga. It was originally released in May 2002.

Summary[]

In Venezuela, a woman interrogates a disarmed man who confesses that the boy whom she is looking for is no longer in the country, saying that he had been shipped last week. Although the man finishes that he has told her everything, the woman coldly points her pistol at him and shoots him dead. Meanwhile in the South China Sea, the Black Lagoon sets sail for Roanapur, and in the hold a young boy, Garcia Lovelace, throws food at Revy. Becoming enraged, Revy pulls out her pistol and threatens to shoot Garcia, but Rock restrains her and decides to take over babysitting. In Roanapur, the maid-dressed woman from before goes around the Thai city and asks for directions to the sleaziest bar in town, so the hesitating men tell her about her ideal destination. In the hold, Garcia also throws food at Rock, who ignores the action and calmly asks Garcia to stop throwing food at him.

Hearing Rock's comment about not wanting to lie to him, Garcia remarks that Rock seems different from the other pirates, but Rock replies that he is really just a criminal-in-training. Continuing to sit, Garcia tells Rock that he is a member of the Lovelace Family, making Rock think that he is lying. Garcia then tells him about how a local cartel tried to threaten his father into giving up their plantation where a rare earth metal was discovered, but his father refused, so the cartel abducted the boy and now he is stuck with Rock. When Garcia demonstrates that he knows specific details about the family, including the family dog Lazarus and its breed as well as knowledge on rare earth metals, Rock starts to believe him and becomes suspicious of the cartel since they lied about the boy's history.

Going into the bridge, Rock relays the information to Dutch, who somewhat agrees while Revy tells Rock not to listen to the child's story since they are only trying to make a profit and not focus on morality. When Rock elaborates that he thinks Garcia's story holds up, Dutch decides to call Balalaika to ask her to obtain background on the Manisarera Cartel, and Balalaika is surprised since she also recently got a job concerning the same cartel. In Roanapur, Roberta enters the Yellow Flag and sits at the counter, causing Bao to snidely tell her that he does not serve milk, telling her to order alcohol. As she calmly asks the annoyed Bao about help for finding certain gangsters, Revy shows up at the counter and orders a Pepsi, glaring at the calm Roberta before leaving. Maintaining her polite demeanor, Roberta casually breaks her glass with her fist and asks Bao for another.

At a table, Garcia sits with Rock, Benny and Dutch when Revy comes back with the soda. As Revy jokes about how nice Garcia's life must be to have servants, the boy clarifies that he only has one servant, a maid named Roberta. Staring angrily at Revy, Garcia states that Roberta is way stronger than her, making her laugh. As Revy laughed, cartel members enter the bar and see Roberta, asking her what business a strangely-dressed person could possibly have with them. Turning around and standing up, the woman tells the men that she is actually looking for them and asks if they are with the Manisarera Cartel, adding that she will have to respond rudely. Baffled by her comment, the cartel men laugh as she points her umbrella at them, shooting a bullet from the umbrella to their shock. Hearing the commotion, the Lagoon Company and Garcia see the sudden bar fight, and Garcia recognizes the woman as his maid, shocking the Lagoon Company members. In Balalaika's office, Boris hands the Lovelace Family file to Balalaika, and she and Boris recognize Roberta's glare in her photo as that of a soldier.
