- Not to be confused with Roberta.
Robert (ロバート Robāto), commonly shortened to Rob (ロブ Robu), was a mercenary who was the second-oldest brother of a four-brother assassin group called The Quartet. He and his brothers Montero, Park Seung, and the unknown brother had different parents but were all related to some overlapping degree.[1] Rob's weapon of choice was a custom-model Sturm Ruger Blackhawk revolver.
Appearance and personality[]
Rob was a middle-aged adult man with light-colored hair with a receding hairline and lengthened in the back. He sometimes wore a cowboy hat. He also wore a dark vest over a light dress shirt with a crucifix necklace. He had a Southern U.S. English accent and commonly talked in a cowboy-like manner. He was a fan of older music such as songs by Ricky Nelson.[2]
History[]
Rob stated that he was from Colorado[3] and that his mother was a prostitute while his father was her pimp.[2] He spent time in a U.S. prison for first-degree murder and then made a living doing trick shooting until he joined Montero and his brothers to do wet work, although he was not a native to Roanapur despite being contracted under Bren the Black Death's business.[4] Montero remarked that the prison Rob was in was located in Arizona, also revealing that Rob's crime was killing a woman and then raping her corpse.[5]
The Wired Red Wild Card[]
After Feng Yifei became a target of the People's Liberation Army, Rob had exited prison on parole and reconvened with his brothers.[6] Additionally, Feng's superior Colonel Ma was forced to get rid of her, so he ordered Captain Yang to hire someone for the job. Since they wanted to be sure of Feng's death, Yang discreetly went to Roanapur and hired Rob and his brothers since they were the only assassins who were on the PLA's list of contacts in Roanapur. Montero was skeptical about the job since he thought was it was unusual to hire them just to take out one person, but Rob and Seung had no problem with the job and they left to find Feng.[1]
As the brothers drove through the city, they first saw Feng when she started a gunfight with Revy in Benny's car. When Rob pointed out Feng, Montero told the brothers that they had his permission to engage, so the brothers started shooting at Feng. Montero joked that Rob missed his first shot, referring to his trick shooting skills. Revy begrudgingly took Feng into her car and drove off, so Montero ordered Seung to use his machine gun immediately to prevent Revy locking her sights. Rock took hold of the wheel and drove into an alley too small for Montero's Humvee to maneuver through, successfully escaping from Seung's machine gun fire. Rob mockingly reminded Montero that he said that God was on their side, to which Montero responded that their failure was probably due to stealing collection money at church.[7]
Later, Rob and his brothers went to Jackpot Pigeons to meet up with Captain Yang to find out who protected Feng from getting killed. Seung was busy watching the strip show and was distracted, so only Montero and Rob listened to Yang, who told them about the Lagoon Company. Rob told Montero about the details of his crime that landed him in prison, making Yang disgusted. After Yang responded that he would talk with his superiors about extra financial compensation, the brothers left the joint.[5]
Later, one of Yang's men spotted Feng at an internet café and called Yang to tip off the brothers. Montero hung up the phone and drove the brothers to the café, where Rob volunteered to kill Revy and Feng. As Feng finished downloading the data that she required, Rob entered and Revy got into a shootout with him, forcing Rock and Feng to take cover. During the shooting, Revy insulted Rob, and he in turn taunted that he liked Revy's style, asking her if she wanted to have sexual intercourse with him. Revy then continued insulting him as a redneck hillbilly. As Rock gave Feng a fist bump and Feng grabbed the CD, Rob shot the CD and broke it into pieces, giving a glare to Feng and telling her that she needed to stick around. Responding to Rob's comment about Colorado, Revy remarked that she had been to the state. As Revy and Rob reloaded their guns, Rock and Feng improvised and took the hard drive with them, so Revy provided them cover as Rob tried to shoot at them.[3]
Rob was forced to take cover, but seconds later he emerged ready to fire again. As the two prepared their weapons once more, the Roanapur City Police arrived to arrest Rob and Revy. Even as Rob had his chest pushed against the floor, he continued to taunt Revy, and both were soon put into separate jail cells at the police station. During Rob's time in his jail cell, he tried to question Revy about why she was protecting the Chinese hacker, but Revy continuously called him a redneck and a hillbilly and questioned him in turn. Rob sang a folk song loudly to annoy Revy, which did not distract the guard since he had headphones on.[2] Meanwhile, Rock and Feng learned about the four brothers' background and skills from Eda and Rico, who offered to help Rock.[4]
Soon after Rob was put in detention at the police station, Montero drove over there, where an anxious Park Seung wanted to free his brother. Montero told him that they could not take on an entire police station due to the risks, to which Seung responded by disobeying his brother and happily stating that he would not die. Seung entered the police station armed, surprising the police officers.[6] He began shooting and killing them, which surprised Rock and Feng as well as surprising Rob and Revy, who were in the jail cells. After Rock convinced the deputy police chief Saensak to free Revy to stop the attack, Rob jokingly yelled for Seung to come to his location. Saensak begrudgingly let Revy out of her jail cell, and she pointed her gun at Rob immediately after retrieving her Cutlass pistols. Frightened, Rob backed up and freaked out and complained that it was unfair that he was unarmed, but Revy nonetheless shot Rob several times, killing him.[8] Subsequently, Revy used Rob's murder to anger Park Seung and lure him into a trap involving the police killing Seung.[9]
