History[]
Greenback Jane[]
When Elvis put a bounty on Jane to capture her alive, Shotgun Arnie decided to participate in the hunt and went to the Yellow Flag with various bounty hunters to be briefed on the job. Like his fellow hunters, he was annoyed by Russell's bossiness and was surprised at Sawyer the Cleaner's appearance as well as Claude's powerful weapon when he demonstrated his lighter's power in the bar.[1] Afterward, Arnie traveled with the others to the Ramsap Inn since Russell and Elvis got a tip about Jane's room number there. When he entered the motel and into the hallway, Arnie kicked down the room door but did not find Jane there since Eda had purposefully given the wrong room number so that the first attack would warn the sleeping Jane to escape. Bursting out of her room and into the hallway, Jane saw the bounty hunters and immediately closed the metal door. When he could not open the locked door, Arnie stood back as his fellow mercenaries shot open the lock, barging through. Kicking down the wooden door behind the metal door, he pointed his shotgun at the bed but saw that Jane had escaped through the window.
Looking out the window, he tried to shoot at the fleeing Jane but missed. Exiting the motel, Arnie reconvened with Shenhua and several bounty hunters, finding out from others that Jane had escaped with Revy and Eda's help. After he witnessed Shenhua criticize Russell and she demanded better pay for everyone, he with the others went to the Lagoon Company dry dock to besiege the place and flush out Jane.[2] Although he was not seen directly contributing to the siege, Arnie followed Russell when Jane and her group ran toward the pier to quickly board the Black Lagoon after the dry dock building collapsed. As the PT boat fled, he was one of several people to jump onto the boat before it sped away. At that point, Arnie kept his guard up as he tried to shoot at Revy and Eda, but Dutch swerved the boat on Revy's verbal signal. Not being able to grasp onto any part of the deck as he slid off, he was thrown off the boat into the sea.[3] His fate after the failed pursuit is unknown.
Trivia[]
- His name, originally shown in the Japanese credits of Episode 17, is possibly a reference to Arnold Schwarzenegger's T-800 character from the Terminator franchise, as Arnie bears physical resemblance to the leather-jacketed, shotgun-wielding T-800 and shares Arnold's nickname "Arnie."
