The Quartet (
Appearance and personality[]
Montero[]
Montero was an adult Afro-Brazilian man with a pencil-thin circle beard. He had dark skin and wore rectangular glasses, a light-colored Panama hat, and a light-colored dress shirt and tie with dark suspenders. Montero often spoke in church-like language due to his upbringing by his father, i.e. commonly talking about prayer, confession, and God's guidance while on his missions. He was the oldest brother, and his weapon of choice was a Sako TRG sniper rifle.
Rob[]
Rob was an older Caucasian-American man with light-colored hair with a receding hairline and lengthened in the back. He sometimes wore a cowboy hat. Moreover, he also wore a dark vest over a light dress shirt with a crucifix necklace. He had a Southern U.S. English accent and commonly talked in a cowboy-like manner. He was a fan of older music such as songs by Ricky Nelson. It was mentioned that he spent several years in a prison in Arizona after he raped a woman whom he shot in the head prior, becoming even more aroused after shooting her.[1] Rob's weapon of choice was a Sturm Ruger Blackhawk revolver.
Park Seung[]
Seung was a tall, muscular Korean-American. He had short dark hair, a small chin beard, and wore a dark tank top. He was quite impulsive and brash, wanting to immediately kill his targets without thinking ahead. He was also quite perverted and easily aroused to the point of groping women whom he found attractive, as well as constantly talking in sexually violent language. His weapon of choice was an M60 machine gun.
Fourth brother[]
The fourth brother's real name, background and ethnicity were unknown. He changed his appearance based on the person that he was targeting; for example he dressed up as Revy and mimicked her voice to get closer to their target. His weapon of choice was a combat knife.
History[]
According to Rob, the four brothers had different parents but were related by various overlap.[2] Montero was the son of a Christian preacher and served as a hitman for a cartel in El Salvador. Robert served time in an Arizonan prison for killing a woman and raping her corpse, and then he made money after prison with trick shooting and wetwork before joining the brothers as a group. Park Seung was former U.S. Army soldier before being dishonorably discharged for unbecoming conduct, joining a Korean-American gang in Los Angeles before joining the brothers. In contrast to those three brothers, the fourth brother's history is completely unknown. Eventually, all four brothers formed one group under Bren the Black Death's murder business, although the brothers were not based in Roanapur.[1]
The Wired Red Wild Card[]
After Feng Yifei was framed by Jane and cut loose from the People's Liberation Army as a result, Colonel Ma was ordered to kill his newly former subordinate, so he had Captain Yang discreetly use any groups in Roanapur under contract for the PLA.[2] At that time, Rob had also exited prison on parole.[3] Subsequently, Yang talked with Montero, Rob and Park Seung, showing them a picture of Feng, real name Li Xinlin, in her PLA uniform. He clarified that she would likely use her alias Feng Yifei and she would be in regular clothing instead of her uniform. When Yang expressed skepticism of their abilities, Montero sternly responded that he could just hire other mercenaries, also asking the PLA soldier why he wanted their help just to kill one woman. Yang answered that his employers wanted to be absolutely certain that Feng disappeared, and Rob and Park Seung agreed to the job. As they prepared to leave, Yang asked them if they were actually brothers, making them joke that it took him longer than they thought to wonder about it. He tried to ask them about their fourth brother since he only saw the three men, but they drove off.[2]
While in Roanapur, they heard a gunfight and did not get involved until Rob noticed that Feng, their target, was in the firefight. Montero told his two brothers that they could engage the target, so they started shooting at Revy and Rock in their car. To his annoyance, Rob missed the first shot, and Feng hung onto the car as Rock began to speed away. In the chaos of their bullets destroying Benny's car, Rock managed to drive the two women away from Seung's machine gun fire. When Montero stopped his Humvee since it could not enter the narrow alleyway, Rob berated him since the former claimed that they had the Lord's blessing to succeed.[4]
Later the next day, the brothers reconvened at a strip club to talk to Yang once again about the people who were protecting Feng. As Rob recalled the time that he killed a woman, Yang was greatly disgusted and wanted to get to the topic. Informing them about the Lagoon Company, Yang posited that Revy unintentionally saved Feng rather than because she was hired to protect the ex-PLA soldier. Realizing that she was likely an obstacle, Montero demand extra pay for extra difficulty. Although hesitant, Yang told them that he would discuss it with his superiors, with Montero joking that he needed to get paid in dollars, not yuan.[5] When Yang tried to inquire again about their fourth brother, the three brothers quickly had to leave after Park Seung was kicked out for trying to grope one of the strippers on stage.[6]
Later, the three brothers received a call from Yang notifying them about Feng's location at an internet café, and they drove there. Wanting to fight Revy, Rob volunteered to take out Feng and went inside the building, immediately having to take cover since Revy noticed him. While Rob taunted Revy as he fired back with his revolver, he noticed Feng pulling out a disk that had the burned data which she needed. Shooting the disk once into pieces, Rob sternly warned Feng to stay put.[7] As Feng escaped, Rob tried to shoot at her but was pinned down by Revy's sights. When he and Revy tried to reload their respective guns, the Roanapur City Police arrived and arrested both gunslingers, preventing Seung and Montero from interfering. In adjacent jail cells inside the police station, Rob tried to ask Revy about the Chinese woman, to which Revy repeatedly replied that he could shut up. Wanting to annoy Revy, Rob began singing a loud folk song, frustrating her.[8]
In the meantime while Rob was imprisoned, Eda and Rico helped Rock and Feng by giving them the backgrounds on the brothers, but they could not get any data about the unseen fourth brother except for his weapon.[1] Montero and Park Seung argued about the problem of entering the police station to rescue Rob until Montero spotted Feng going inside. Impatient to wait, Park Seung loaded his machine gun as Montero tried to calmly dissuade him from attacking the police since they had superior numbers and firepower. Stepping out of Montero's car, Seung smiled and confidently assured his older brother that he could take on the cops.[3] Entering the station, Seung started a firefight with the police, demanding that they free Rob and bring him Feng. Deputy police chief Saensak freed Revy to deal with Seung's rampage, and Revy immediately shot and killed an unarmed Rob as soon as she left her cell and retrieved her Cutlass pistols.[9]
Successfully pushing back the police's barricade, Seung was able to intimidate other police officers from trying to attack. Making an entrance, Revy began a gunfight with Seung and poured some drink syrup onto him, also purposefully enraging Seung by saying that she killed Rob. Upon hearing that, Seung began to furiously cry and proclaimed that he would rape and kill Revy for murdering his brother.[10] Luring Seung onto the second floor, Revy shot at Seung, whose shoulder was injured but nonetheless claimed that her 9mm would not bring him down. Thinking Revy was cornered at the elevator door, Seung realized that his gun had jammed from the syrup. Putting down his gun, he menacingly walked toward the unarmed Revy and threatened her to kneel down or he would break her knees. Seeing her kneel down, Seung smiled and declared that he would break Revy's body as he raped her, but he was taken by surprise when the elevator door opened. Gritting his teeth in pain and anger, Seung stood frozen in shock as the remaining police officers used all their firepower on him, blowing his body apart across the hallway.[11]
After the battle with only Seung's feet remaining intact on the floor, Rock, Revy and Feng exited the police station, and Montero stood on a nearby rooftop with a sniper rifle to kill the three. Rock knew about his location and looked directly into Montero's rifle scope lens with a finger gun gesture, scaring Montero. At the same time, Eda sneaked up behind Montero and hit his head with a baseball bat a second later, knocking him off the building and onto a car, killing him.[12] Later, Feng was escorted back to the strip club, where Revy volunteered to do an S&M show as a favor for Feng's refuge there. While Feng was in the audience watching Revy's show, Rock was met by Revy entering the backroom asking for Feng's whereabouts. He was confused but she figured that she was in the audience and left. At that moment, he then realized that the Revy whom he saw was actually the fourth brother and rushed to the stage area. The fourth brother, disguised as Revy, charged at Feng with a knife before being shot and killed by Revy, effectively ending The Quartet and leaving Feng unharmed.[13]
