The Shadow Over Roanapur is the second chapter of the Black Lagoon spinoff series Dismemberment Galore! The Gore Gore Girl. It was originally released on October 19, 2019.

Plot[]

Inside her workplace, as Sawyer the Cleaner cuts up a corpse with her chainsaw, a young boy behind her sits down and calls her name, saying that he is sorry for his interruption. As she turns around and takes off her eyewear to look at him, the boy covers his nose with his arm, remarking that her work smells like blood. Asking her if she let him in without permission because she had the room unlocked, he reminds her that he is there to collect the "thing." On another table, Sawyer removes a covering to reveal a lifeless girl, and the boy looks at the corpse in awe since the girl looks alive. Commenting that he will not ask her how she got it, he tells her that the "Doctor" will soon give the reward to her as promised and laughs. As the boy continues examining the girl, he sees that the girl's eye has a rainbow iris like the "Earth Eye" that he has heard about. Satisfied with the appearance, the boy waves goodbye to Sawyer and states that he will send a carrier later.

Later at the Yellow Flag, Sawyer sips a glass of alcohol while Shenhua asks her what she has been up to, be it corpse buying or organ trafficking. Jokingly asking if Sawyer is a necrophiliac, Shenhua remarks that she does not want to peer into Sawyer's business too much. Sitting with them, Lotton thinks about the name of the young Thai boy, Heo, who spoke with Sawyer previously, stating that his name's meaning being "Abyss" is strange. Drinking her beverage, Shenhua thinks about Sawyer's errand since their client called "Doctor" seems to be strange, asking Sawyer if she should inform Mister Chang in the event that something goes awry. Showing concern, Shenhua advises Sawyer to at least keep an eye on it, and the cleaner remains silent as Lotton orders a glass of milk.  The Taiwanese assassin declares that she has another place to go to, asking Sawyer if she is all right walking alone at night.

Afterward, as Sawyer walks at night, she is calm but then sees several large men in dark suits and bowler hats blocking her path, grimacing at her. Suddenly, Heo appears out of nowhere and kicks one of the men to the ground, greeting Sawyer. Saying that the men are business rivals of his, Heo apologizes for leading the men to her, adding that he will take care of them and urges her to stay to the side. While Heo beats up the men with martial arts, a man behind Sawyer charges at her with a small knife, but Sawyer suddenly stops his attack by quickly swinging back her left arm, slitting his throat with a scalpel. As the man coughs up blood on the ground, Sawyer holds a pair of surgical scissors and smiles but tilts her head in bafflement as she notices various tiny tentacles wiggling in the blood. Heo then interrupts to stomp his foot onto the man after having beat up the other men, and he walks up to the cleaner and smiles to ask if she is all right. Looking into his eyes, she sees his left eye with a rainbow iris, thinking about Heo's "Earth Eye" comment from earlier. As Sawyer looks, a hand waves to Heo from behind an adjacent wall, grabbing his attention.

Knowing that he is being picked up, Heo turns and grabs her hand, remarking that the nearby sound must be the Doctor's carriage. As the woman appears from the corner, Sawyer recognizes her as the same corpse that she gave to Heo before, shocking her. Bidding goodbye, Heo gives Sawyer a sly smile and bids her sweet dreams, disappearing rapidly before Sawyer turns around the corner in frightened confusion. The next morning at Shenhua's place, Sawyer lays on the couch as the nightgown clad Shenhua laughs at her story, telling her that it was a dream likely resulting from her drunkenness. Continuing to giggle, Shenhua elaborates that it is outlandish that her assailants did not carry guns in Roanapur and that the boy somehow beat them up easily with Muay Thai. Stating that she has lots of parcels arriving today, Shenhua orders Sawyer to get to work.
