Tou Chi the Blaster (「発破屋」トー・チー "Happa-ya" Tō Chī), also just called Tou Chi (トー・チー) and alternatively named Torchy in the English version of the anime, is a drug user and dealer in Roanapur.

Appearance[]

Tou Chi is a young man with pale skin and unkempt dark hair. He wears a tribal motif-patterned bandana on his head and also wears a light-colored unbuttoned dress shirt over a black shirt and purple pants. He keeps a Smith & Wesson revolver on him for a firearm.

History[]

Previously, Tou Chi used to live on Satanam Street, but moved to a different place due to becoming addicted to drugs like heroin.

El Baile de la muerte / Roberta's Blood Trail[]

When Roberta returned to Roanapur, she needed gunpowder for her Charleville Musket, so she visited Tou Chi and purchased some. Later, Revy and Fabiola Iglesias found out from Praiyachat about Roberta using a musket, connecting the gun type to needing gunpowder. Accordingly, the two women visited Tou Chi's place, and Revy noticed a shotgun trap outside his apartment. Unconcerned, she knocked on his door loudly, telling him to open up since she could hear him inside. Terrified, Tou Chi opened the door and calmly asked what Revy wanted, but before she could clarify, Tou Chi stumbled back and pulled out his revolver, rambling in a drug-induced rant about an alien death squad coming for him. Smiling, Revy joked that Fabiola was one of the good aliens to calm him down, so Fabiola played along and told him that she had come to save him from the Cylon Empire.

Thankfully, he calmed down and let the two women enter, with Revy asking him about any strange orders that he recently got. Thinking, he commented that a man ordered some flint and gunpowder, confusing her since Roberta was a woman. While holding a spoon with drugs, he tried to remember the name of the man but hesitated, causing Revy to kick the spoon from his hands and ordering him to tell her the man's name. Tou Chi bit his thumb and tried to think, soon remembering that the man was Richie Leroy, so Revy and Fabiola left his apartment to question Leroy.[1]

Gore Gore Girl[]

In Volume 2, being invited to go out, Lotton left Shenhua's place to see Tou Chi, and Shenhua became concerned about Lotton's disappearance. Looking for him throughout town, she and Sawyer eventually saw him in a bad part of Roanapur and ran toward him, demanding to know why he had left her place. Going around the corner, Shenhua saw Lotton calmly standing next to Tou Chi, who yelled that he would not give up Lotton. Shenhua did not recognize him at all, prompting the annoyed Tou Chi to clarify his name. The drug user then continued talking in a hallucinating rant about how his brain was being melted as well as claiming that he needed Lotton since he was a "chosen" person. Once Tou Chi stated that he had a passport for traveling and pulled out his own revolver, Shenhua knocked him onto the ground and told the aloof Lotton that he should not be hanging around people like Tou Chi. As Tou Chi laid on his back in pain, Lotton stated that he accepted Tou Chi's invitation since he thought that the latter would have dumplings and video games, but upon seeing neither, he declined and decided that he would leave right before Shenhua came by.[2]
