Vengeance is the thirty-eighth chapter of the Black Lagoon spinoff series Dismemberment Galore! The Gore Gore Girl. It was originally released on October 19, 2022.

Plot[]

At a goldfish stand on wheels, Sawyer the Cleaner (carrying a large purse) and Shenhua come across it, and Shenhua looks at one of the goldfish bags, remarking that the shop is an unusual sight. As she looks at the goldfish, Shenhua sees a blurry eye through the bags and water, and Shenhua goes around the stand to see a small, sulking girl standing there, asking her if she is all alone and where her father went. Although Shenhua smiles and asks in concern, the girl remains silent. Elsewhere, five Chinese gangsters stand around and discuss locking up certain people into a room to kill them all. Recalling how a drifter is selling medicine without permission on their organization's island, a glasses-wearing man reminds them that they need to complete their mission as a test of showmanship.

A white-blazer man jokes that they themselves are basically drifters, and the glasses man states that he cannot return to Hong Kong for a while and has to make a place for himself in Roanapur to prove his loyalty. Speaking relaxingly, the white-blazer man smokes a cigarette and jokes that they can start a "barbecue," but his other colleague berates him, asking him if he wants to make a bigger mess. The white-blazer man jokes and remembers a Hong Kong detective who snooped around too much, so he and his friends burned the detective's house down with his wife and kids, gloating about the story. Cocking his pistol, he remarks that they have a new road ahead and their old days are gone.

Behind them in an alleyway, a man catches his breath while carrying a pistol, and he shoots Wan as a sideburns gangster turns after hearing the laughing. The men realize that it is an ambush, and the sideburns gangster points to the alleyway where the man ran away. The white-blazer man runs ahead to the glasses man's dismay, and the men begin shooting around the corner as the attacker runs away. Back at the goldfish stand, Shenhua sits down next to the girl on the curb and tries to cheer her up by saying that her father should be back soon, asking the child's name. Only getting silence in response, Shenhua continues asking in English if she can understand her words. Speaking Cantonese, Shenhua asks her the same question again, also asking her where her father is. Still gloomy, the girl merely answers that he is out. Gritting his teeth, the fleeing man continues to run as his face gets grazed by a bullet. Seeing him run behind another corner, the white-blazer man hurriedly orders his men not to let him escape.

As they chase him, the man grabs a pre-placed shotgun and extends his arms in the open briefly, successfully blowing away the sideburns gangster which angers the white-blazer man even more. Although the glasses man catches up, the white-blazer man asks the glasses man to forgive him for going ahead again. Finding the situation ridiculous, the glasses man wonders who the pursuer is, but he is suddenly attacked by someone behind him. Chasing the attacker, the white-blazer man fires one shot and successfully shoots the fleeing attacker in the back, felling him to the ground. The man pushes his chest up in an attempt to get up, glaring at the white-blazer man, who assesses that the man escaped the fire while his family got burned and subsequently followed the gangster to Roanapur. Telling the detective that he is silly, the gangster cocks his pistol, but the detective cries in pain and looks ahead of him to the goldfish stand, calling for his daughter Lai Faa. Immediately, the girl pulls out a snub-nose revolver, with her head movement moving her hair to reveal that her face's right side is disfigured from a burn.

As the white-blazer man is surprised to learn that the daughter is alive, the father uses his dying breath to order her to shoot. As the two point their guns at each other, Shenhua's sword suddenly flies right into the gangster's forehead, knocking him back and killing him. As Sawyer continues to hold back Lai Faa's hand from shooting, Shenhua calmly comments that "Lai Faa" is a cute name, telling the girl that she can still turn back unlike her father. At his office, Mister Chang finishes a phone call, thanking the caller for their hard work and telling them to leave the daughter alone. As he places down the phone, a Triad affiliate informs him that the men that they had stationed at an apartment had been sent home, adding that the other Hong Kong gangsters' bodies went to the cleaners. Curious, the assistant asks Chang if he knew the man at the goldfish shop. Pulling out a cigarette, Chang confirms and elaborates that he knew the man a long time ago when they worked together, stating that he was treated to breakfast and merely repaid the debt to him much later. At her place, Sawyer sprinkles some food into her goldfish's bowl.
